i dont do anything. i personally love to slide all the turns. and then use 4wd when times get tough ;)

Slippery roads? HAHA don't have that problem :).

i would suggest a water bladder my sister used one on her s10 and she loved it put some rv antifreeze solution in it and it worked great.

Get good tires. I didn't have any weight in the back and I was fine.

2by4 Oct 1, 2008 02:28 PM

I am just putting 2 2x6's on either sides of the wheel wells and throwing 5 sandbags in between them and I am good to go.

My91Ranger Oct 1, 2008 02:31 PM

I've used sand bags in the past, makes it easier to get rolling and I can get moving quicker with them but it also hurt my gas mileage to have 250 pounds of extra weight.

I have a tonneau so i wasnt worried about using salt bags but if you dont have a cover i would use sand or you could run into problems with rust

thats sweet!

Prerunner-Ranger Oct 1, 2008 03:03 PM

Teach yourself how to counter-steer and you'll be fine with no sandbags :)

jtslmn720 Oct 1, 2008 03:06 PM

sand bags are good, never really appreciated them until i drove to work one day with out them and was sliding around. then when i was loaded down with 10 bags of salt at work (snow plowing) and i never lost traction once, ill always have a couple in the back now

Four wheel drive thats all you need.

BlutoBodine Oct 1, 2008 03:19 PM

I was under the impression that my 2008 XLT 4cyl could not be purchased with a limited slip axle, but when I burned out yesterday (just to see if it could) it left two tire tracks. That makes me feel better about the bad weather coming.

4wd will just put you farther in the ditch.

Really all you need to do it slow down and drive for the conditions.

In the wintertime I'd just fill the entire bed of my truck with snow and when it melted, I didn't need it anymore

And when I say entire bed, I mean entire bed, almost passed my rear window.

yup, they come with LS as an option.

The best thing for snow though is an open differential.

But you cant beat 4wd for traction. It really helped last year during the winter.

Simple, I'll be back in Texas, where it gets to about 50 and that's as low as it gets :scool:

it helps get you going. and thats it

i put mine in 4wd last winter to have some fun and see if i could launch the truck from a stop. i could see 4wd on hills but thats about it.

hell i had never driven on snow or ice until i came here.. i have 12.50" wide Mud terrains.. and i made it through

Okay, but every time I tried to add the option on the 4 cyl I was always prompted to add the V6 upgrade. Glad I have it though because I'm not the best driver on snow. I use the sandbags for traction also.

Trigger01 Oct 1, 2008 03:50 PM

I just drive it how your supposed to and not be stupid. A good set of tires really helps, but then again so does a good driver. My grandfather throws two or three 40lb. bags of concrete in the back of his B4000. I won't put anything else in the back of my truck, I've got enough weight with my toolbox back there.

Yea thats all I need it to do, get me going. Then once you are going just use common sense and take it slow.
