Are you sure wee're talking about the same trucks? I am 6'2" and 250 pounds and I have to have the seat reclined in the ranger just so my head doesn't smack the center bar on the Ranger head liner. This Taco I had the seat straight up and had a good 6 inches to the ceiling. alos my knees weren't touching the door panel and it was a lot farther to the passenger seat. If you read the dimesnsions online the truck is significantly more roomy than ther ranger.

The specifics on the truck I drove was a 4.0 V6 auto access cab 4X4 with the TRD sport package. So it had a fake hood scoop(Can take or leave) it was Speedway blue with a graphite interior. Trust me if you drive one you will have a tough time deciding to spend the same money on a ranger. It gets bettermileage and has more power. I hit the gas pulling onto the freeway ramp and got the thing silly sideways without even trying, my ranger never gave me that kinda thrill driving. I am telling you Ford needs to build a truck like this.

I didn't believe the hype either til I drove one, but this is just a better truck for the same money. It is really hard for me to say it but anything else would be a lie.

Well, the tacoma i believe isn't a compact pickup anymore. Ford Rangers are the last true compact pickups available on the market. So I'd compare that tacoma to Colorados and dakotas and f150s.

Its not the headroom that was the problem, it was the leg room, I dunno I Just wasn't very comfy even with the seat all the way back.. I'm not saying that that will be a problem for you, I'm just saying the next truck I buy will be a full size, not cuz I wan't a full size, but because I need a fullsize..lol. Anyway back on topic, I agree that the taco is a nice truck, that will hold its value much better than a Ranger ever will, if its the truck you like the best, then go for it... we all know you will always bleed blue...lol

Eh, ive driven a new tacoma X-runner.. for 242hp it wasnt that peppy, and it was even a stick shift.. also the engine was soo harsh and whiney sounding. I was expecting more i guess. Looked plain on the inside as well, just like the Tundra.. im not knocking the truck or anything btw, it did kinda look cool on the outside

Just for giggles HJ....Maybe it's my location, but the L2 I build is cheaper than your FX4 Off-Road.

Compare what's standard for the L2 pics below vs your O-R build which were options. You also went with the auto tranny, I kept it manual. I also added the tow package.

Chris, dont bother John. If he did accurate research he'd realize that the tacoma actually costs a lot more. But if he does bad research then it looks better for him, thereby justifying it in his mind.

Anyways, I've always suspected John supported the commies and voted for Kerry. It wasn't enough that Yota tried to steal the jeep wrangler design with the FJ vehicle. they decided to steal the ranger too with the tacoma.

I mean seriously John, Terrorists love Toyota Tacomas. Maybe because of all the T's/

John, I'm with ya on that taco thing.

I'm not a huge guy at all. But coming from a Big body car, I like some room.

I test drove a taco with my dad (he was going to get one) and they are VERY nice. The power is incredible.

We looked at one that had the bbs 18" wheels with 33" at tires of some sort, had every upgrade and the only thing it didn't have is the supercharger (which is optional). Out the door, it is about 26k. With the supercharger, IIRC it was 29K out the door, well worth it for that truck, 4wd, the works.

I was seriously considering one at that time, but now, I I am also considering buying a new truck (new job "police dispatcher" maybe). I mean I pay 300/month for my truck right now, a new one is 350...50 bucks more for an 06 taco with 4x4 and 18's on 33's...the works, straight from the dealer.... (My dad works for the city of sunrise and gets a hook up on the financing and he gets some x or z plan i forget what it is)

When the dealer let me drive it, I was seriously shocked. It's like a freaking machine...it's HUGE compared to my ranger inside, and it builds power like a full size truck, actually, scratch that, it takes the power on a full size. and with a supercharger, that thing would be devilish. On a body lift you can throw on 35's..and it is already posi in the front and rear (It may be selectable locker IIRC for the rear) so it will be pretty nice offroad. I'm not as much worried about the MPG though...I drive hard

Just lettin ya know john, I'm with ya on the taco thing, they are very nice trucks. I got the opportunity to drive one when they first came out, but my dad bought a 03 chev 7z1 out from my unlce instead...nice truck, but no ranger or taco...

I think the difference is an Auto. I made the decision the next truck is going to be an auto. I drive a 25 mile stretch of highway the has stoplights every intersection and as much fun as it is driving a stick, the every day driving will drive me nuts so I am making a sacrifice.

Well You guy will be happy to know that after consulting the bank looks like another Ranger for me. I Really love the toyoate but the EXtra expense puts it out of my budget. If I had a few more months I would wait til I had a bigger down payment, but buy then the 07's will be out and it will probably cost a ton more. I pretty much and sticking with the original Ranger I built on line. Unfortunatly I was dissapointed in my discount price. I got X-plan, but My buddy had to explain why it wasn't as good as it used to be. The cost of building rangers wnet up and the price has stayed stagnent so, now they hardly mark them up a dime. Also if I order a new one it will be an 07, so therefore it will have little to no incentives. So that FX4 with the 25K price tag will cost me 22K total <---price include TTL. This kinda sucks because I paid 18K for my 04 level II, but at least I am Getting something. He showed me the buysheet and the this is inline with the X-plan. He can't give me an employee D-plan, because I can't claim I am employee anymore, even though I still get my discounts everywhere else. Oh Well, it looks to be a 6-8 week wait on my Ranger so it will be sometime in Sept.
