stock tire is a 29inch tall tire. your mileage will be off a little it depending on how long he has been rockin the 33's. also to fix the speedo all you need is a programmer or a chip. i just run by my GPS untill i can afford to get the programmer.

I love my Celica. Honestly I would keep the Celica, it will return better than the Ranger ever will. Save up some cash and buy an 80's or early 90's ranger. I got mine for $1,100.

I drove a celica gts, both the stick and button auto versions. Felt like a tercel with a body kit! Not impressed with the lack of power, something that looks that fast should actually be somewhat fast. Get the ranger.

the truck looks like it has seen some abuse.

you won't be "rebuilding" rearend constantly though. if he was, he was doing something wrong. worst case scenario it will need a new rear end, in which case if it's done right, it will last for the life of the truck. even a good used one will probably last the life of the truck. i think the rear end will be the least of your worries.

as for mileage, it may be off (in which cas it will have more than 108000 miles), or he may have corrected the speedo, only one way to find out. i would be more concerned about the transmission, it will ultimatly take the abuse of the oversize tires, it will probably be okay as long as it drives okay.

you will probably be getting 1/3 the mileage of you celica, be forewarned!

if you like the truck, get it, but get it inspected by a mechanic first, it could likely need front end work, u joints, CV shafts... i could go on. if it needs work than use that as a bargaining chip.

if you do get the truck, be prepared to spend a couple hundred dollars to change all the fluids. as i said if it's been abused, that any or all of the fluids could be contaminated.

i will repeat, CHECK THE FRONT END CHECKED! GET THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED! that alone may save you alot of cash. if the front end is out of spec, you will wear those tires out before he'll have to put gas in the celica!

to find a truck that has no been rat bagged, look for stock trucks, preferably low mileage, and driven by somebody older. this will usually reduce the chances of getting a lemon, and you won't have to deal with some hicks butchered repairs, you get a clean slate.

happy hunting, so to speak!

Even though you passed on this Ranger, I would recommend still looking for another Ranger or Mazda B-series (1994-2008 is a rebadged Ranger, 1986-1993 are pre-Ford takeover).

I have a 2002 B4000 just shy of 400 000km...I guess that's well over 250 000miles. Only problem we've ever had with it is the clutch slave seizing at 60k. Other thn that,in 6 years it has only had 2 complete tune ups, it's on it's 3rd set of tires, 3rd set of front brakes,2nd set of rear brakes, 2nd set of shocks all around, 2nd set of u-joints,2nd clutch slave, 3rd clutch (original was replaced at 100 000km / 60k mi when the slave seized. I just had that replacement clutch replaced this week after 300 000km).

Everything I just listed there was all regular wear and tear maintenance. Nothing has ever unexpectedly broke or left the truck unusable for any amount of time. It has truly been one of the most dependable trucks around. Ford is right with the slogan "Built Ford Tough."

Ok, now Im looking at an 01 4x4 xlt with 4.10 gears, 135k miles, auto, just replaced hubs and cv joints in front end, says its in real good condition. It is flareside, does that mean I loose a lot of space in the bed? Or could I still fit a quad in there?

You do lose a lot of space with that bed. You'll still be able to fit some quads in there, but to a real large one. That truck looks a lot cleaner than the last one you posted.

so what is the benefit of having the flare, just looks cool? I think it looks better without. Is the bed shorter or just thinner?
