good shop manual?

Hi, Ive been needing to do some repairs on my truck(replacing gaskets) for a while. The only thing stopping me is that i don't have a good shop manual. I have a haynes manual but it just doesn't have the detail that i want. I've looked on ebay and found some ford repair manuals on cd or dvd. The sellers say that they these manuals are very detailed and are the same ones that ford uses. I was just wondering if anyone has tried one of these. Or is there a better place to look for a manual?

thanks
caw

hayes and chiltons are ****, my brothers told him " do not attempt. Take to a qulified mechanic" to replace his ball joints..

talk to mecanics and see where they get theres from, those are what you really want...

I found the Ford Dealer Shop manuals online and got them, my truck has one for engine and chassis and then a electrical one also, it will cost you probably around $100, but if you are keeping the truck for a long time I think they are worth it..

Most of the service manuals on CD are too generalized.... The one that I purchased a couple years ago was JUNK !!!! Granted I only paid $3 for the CD.
Save your money and purchase the FORD Factory Service Manual specifically for your year Ranger.
I purchased the FSM with the Electrical schematics on Ebay for about $55.
If the dealership mechanics use this to work on our vehicles when we take them in, then WE can use them too !!

I use a Ford factory manual and like it. It has thousands of pages and is very detailed. These are around $160 new from Helm and usually go for $50~80 used on eBay when you can find them.

There is a site where you can download Ford CD/DVD manuals for free. I don't know how these compare but the price is right.

Ranger,

If you have good results with these manuals.... you are a minority when it comes to having good results....
Most people feel that these manuals are TOO generalized..
