Well at first I was thinking about getting a 3" PA BL with a set of 15x8 wheels and 33x12.50 M/T's. Now I've been readin up and I decided to go with a 6" suspension lift and just get 33x10.5 M/T's so I can use my stock wheels.

Now my main question is besides long brake lines that don't come with the kit. what else will I need to mod to make this work?

A few people told me that I have to make modifications for my drive line to be straight like shimming the rear axle. I never heard of anyone doing it.

 

depends on what kit you get.....they all have options.........most Superlift kits come with everything but breaklines......

dont let anyone tell you different.....but the Superlift and Skyjacker kits are built just the same way.....most people try and say that the Superlift kit was junk....they are badly mistaken....

i wouldn't run 33x10.50's.....with a 6" lift kit, you will have a lot of roll over tendencys....the minimum for a 6" lift should be a 12.50 tire....

if you have a front sway bar, you will need either drop brackets or extended end links...........

whenever you lift it, i wouldn't get any other kit besides a Superlift or a Skyjacker......all the others are not as good of quality and are not built to bolt right up.........for example the Rough Country kits require you to just drop the stock brackets and you have to drill out some of the stock holes to mount the drop brackets........with the Superlift and Skyjacer, they supply completely new brackets and will match up perfectly with the stock holes....

you will have a vibration at extreme low speeds (0-10 mph) because your truck has a 2 piece rear driveshaft.......the best way to fix that is to find a rear driveshaft out of a 1998+ Ranger extended cab 4x4 (dont matter if it is a 4.0 or a 3.0 or if it has a 7.5 or a 8.8 rear end).....then just take out the carrier bearing crossmember and bolt in the 1 piece driveshaft.....

there is no shimming to the rear end.......

another thing to do:

instead of using lift blocks, get a set of Chevy lowering shackles (Belltech part#:6400) and an add-a-leaf.....or get completely new leaf springs from Skyjacker.....i love my new 6" lifted Skyjacker leafs and take out the stock block to achieve the correct lift for a front 6" lift........they ride real well and have great flex.......or you can get the Skyjacker 4" lifted leafs and leave in the stock block.......

 

great info! I need to call and find what brand this kit is. I know it includes:

Replacement coil springs, center hinge and radius arm, drop brackets and rear block and U-boltswith shocks and boots. Drop Pitman included 1/4" H.D. Bracketry

I want to get new rear leafs but I will just use the blocks for now and save up. I guess I will have to get wheels too if I have to run 12.50" tires.

I like 35's but I don't want to change my gears yet. Right now I have a 3.73's 8.8 lim-slip. So I figures I was safe with 33's for now.

So you are saying that the chevy drop shackle and an AAL would get me to 6". That would be better.

I'm going to order a 1 piece axle ASAP too.

that is were i got my kit and it was a Superlift kit....it was still Superlift when NTW was in Indy last year for the Jamboree.....

for the rear, it will be lifted 2" less than what the kit says.....when a kit says it is a 6" lift, that is for the front....lift kits are designed to level a truck out since they have about a 2" rake from the factory (meaning the rear is higher than the front)......so a 6" lift is really a 6" in the front and 4" in the rear.......

the Chevy shackle will give you 2" of lift and an add-a-leaf will give you another 2" of lift...with the stock block, that is what you need for a 6" lift.........

please dont stack the blocks.....i did it for about 2 years and regret it 100%......

i would also recommend getting the Skyjacker extended end links for the sway-bar instead of the drop brackets.....i am getting ready to get the end links and replace the drop brackets......the drop brackets will limit you when you want a steering stabilizer...

also get yourself a steering stabilizer.....it will improve bump steer (steering wheel jerk when you hit a bump).......if you get the Skyjacker extended end links, you can get a dual stabilizer from Skyjacker also......

also, if you want to run 35's, then you should also get a body lift.....when i just had my 6" suspension lift the 33's were just right with the 6" lift.....35's would be too much for a 6" suspension lift......

thanks for the comment.....i like the visors, but not on the '93-'97 Rangers....i like them on the older style.....

 

i have one on my 94 (came with the truck), i think it would look really good on yours because you have a lifted truck.

Am I at least on the right track? I was going to go with a steering stabilizer right off the bat. How much do sway bar end links run so I can put one on?

 

the end links are about $60.....the drop brackets are about $40....so for the little extra it is worth it...
