You only have 1200 miles on it. The engine just starts to "warm" up at like 10,000. Then you'll be getting "normal" mileage.

Bruno, I bought my 06 FX4 new a year and a half ago. Up around 2000 to 2500 miles it seemed to get a little better. Not much but a little.

If your gonna keep the truck for 100k or more miles. I'd suggest buying two things for milage. A X-cal 2 tuner. And a crank underdrive pulley. Both of those will indeed give you results.

Check out MY WEB PAGE

btw, I average 19 winter and 20-21 summer in 50/50 driving.

I've put them on three different engines and have been very happy each time.
5.0L, 4.6L, and now this 4.0L

btw, IMO the 4.0L crank is very small. I'd not put underdrives on any of the other pullies in conjunction with it.

The pulleys for the water pump and alternator? I thought those were to speed it back up?

My 2008 4x4 on 33" tires is averaging 14 now which is low because i haven't calibrated it for the larger tires. It was 19 mpg stock. i got no improvement when i did the intake and muffler. I just hit 5k miles. X-cal tuner is next, thats gonna be the biggest improvement I think.

Really? I did'nt know that. I was assuming that they only slowed them.
If that's the case, then for those two components:
Larger = slower
Small = faster

I'm sorry that is just the Alternator Pulley

http://www.stuffforyourranger.com/st...products_id=38

Underdog Overdrive Alternator pulley spins the alternator back up to normal speed after installing an underdrive crank pulley, restoring amperage to OEM levels. Available in anodized red, blue, or red. A 1" shorter belt is required. Aluminum construction offers less rotating mass than OEM pulley.
The water pump is a underdrive, which would slow it down even more.

http://www.stuffforyourranger.com/st...products_id=41

Underdog 20% Underdrive Water Pump Pulley replaces the stock water pump pulley. Anodized aluminum offers lighter weight over oem. Available in red, blue, or black. Fits 4.0" SOHC or OHV Ranger, Mustang, Explorer, and Sport Trac. Must be used with Underdrive crank pulley.

I have an 08 4.0 with 5spd, and I consistently get 18-19 around town doing my daily driving. Have done any highway trips with it yet.

Your milage is lousy! I don't hit the 3/4 mark at less than 140mi but I hypermile where I live.
Now that I gave my truck a new set of plugs and wires I expect at least 25mpg. My 4x4 x-cab has 182.xxxmiles on it.
