did you hear what you just said?? you can see them at night fine,, well no **** sherlock! cause its dark out... but what about during the day or in snow or rain? you are covering the device that lets ppl know you are stopping... DUUUHHH!!! nightshade is cool for like 5 mins, then you realize you look like a ricer or just a straight bozo...

now yes, i have been through the nightshade faze, and had illegal mods to the truck, but now after being hasseled by the cops i try hard to make my truck legal (flaps and flares)... so i know where your coming from trying to fight your ticket, but take a step back and look at the situation, you are breaking the law and causing a hazard, the cop is just doing his job and trying to make the roads safe... so think about it a little, make your truck more legal and move on!!

good luck

There's young inexperienced rookie cops for ya. Must have been his first day without his training officer with him.
^ You sound ignorant and retarded. I am glad you are so good at picking out rookie officers can you pick my lottery numbers for me

This is just something i was told not sure on its accuracy as the guy that said it is a little know it all haha.. Anyhow he said Toll roads are privatley owned so a cop can't ticket you. Is this correct? If so you said you were on a toll road so the ticket would be invalid.

definitely false.
while the toll roads are owned by the Govt, a lot of times they use private companies for caretaking of them, which includes the taking of tolls. however, Staties have Jurisdiction over ALL roads in the state, whether private or not.

in the state of FL, Ive found far fewer staties on the toll roads than anywhere else. Ive also found them to be much more lenient on toll roads as one time an FSP was going the opposite direction, with his radar on as I was using a detector, and I was doing 87mph and he didnt even bother flashing his lights at me to let me know he saw me.

Toll roads down here are private roads yes, but cops CAN and WILL still patrol them. Few years back cops couldn't even drive on the toll road. Now i am pretty sure the "toll road" pays cops to patrol.

Thanks to the people that gave me some good advice, the others that are trying to be smart asses, well just leave my thread. I'll take your guy's advice and not do nightshades anymore. I guess as someone stated before me its just a phase.

-Yes on the can it does say for "off-road use only"

- I am not an idiot and i am not complaining. I honestly could care less i got pulled over for night shade on my tails, when i knew it was illegal the entire time. I wont be putting them back on due to "safety concerns" as some people have pointed out. I am also in California where it does not snow or rain very much, and the weather is pretty good. I was unaware it's "unsafe" to be driving with black out tails. I'll just go buy some aftermarket smoked tails

But don't some cops break the rules themselves? So who watches over them? It's like they are above the law because they enforce it. Well I don't find It being right. I know a lot of things are illegal on my truck and if I get caught then I do. Will I change it back to stock? No. I'll keep it how it is and get it signed off by a family member of mine who is a cop.

I also have a family member who is a police officer who i can get my tickets signed off by. Do i think police officers have to much authority, yes. As edgerider said who enforces the police. There is a police department about 5 minutes from my house. Whenever i drive by i can see the cop's personal vehicles. Most of them being lifted trucks or some sort of SUV with black out windows. The place where i got my tint put on my truck , the owner was telling me the whole orange county PD goes to him for window tint on their personal vehicles.. and they all get limo tint i was told.

The only thing illegal on my truck is/was the nightshades and my HID kit. Which someone stated earlier in the thread i should of been pulled over for my illegal HIDS.. Well i have had my hid's for over a year now.. Never been pulled over for them. If i do.. i will pay the fines then switch back.. The only way ill go to jail is if i never pay the ticket.. If i just keep getting tickets then keep getting them signed off i don't see an issue.

its a valid concern, and one Ive had on several occasions.
I have a few stories I could tell, but I'll stick with a short one.

about 15 yrs ago, a good friend was having a bday party at this restaurant by the interstate, while the party was going, I noticed a statie had someone pulled over right out front. but the other vehicle was out of my view, so I got up and leaned to where I could see it and it was a local sheriff.
I watched as this trooper issued a ticket to the sheriff !
it was AWESOME !
my guess is (as we have all seen many times Im sure) the sheriff was hauling ***, not on a call, most likely heading home.

on another note, I followed a trooper down US27 a couple weeks ago who was running pretty consistently 75-80 mph (limit is 60-65 mph)

wow man, way to fly off the handle...
if you take a moment to read his sig, it appears he has a 98 ranger 4x4 listed there.
but even if he no longer owns it, I didnt read anywhere in the ToS where you actually need to own a ranger to join this site....
its a free site for people who share a common interest, you can be interested in rangers and not actually own one....

im just saying because he comes in here tying to one up people on what they do. if someone like the op wanted to vent about getting a ticket for his nightshades so be it. mr wilson there has some stuff thats done to his truck that i know is illegal here in cali. not sure about bfe (butt fu*k egypt) where he is. and im sure he would be mad too if he got a ticket for it and would want to vent. and my statement about how the cops go over the system is valid. just because your a cop you get to do whatever? thats like saying since im in nursing that i should get free healthcare, or people that build houses should get a free house. im just putting my opinion out there about the cop situation. if you dont like it then dont read it.

guess i got lucky then.. haha back at the end of 2008 beginning of 2009 i ran without a front plate for months without problems.. then busted the passenger tail light lens again without problems, then in august 2009 i took the truck off the road because i couldnt afford the insurance and yesterday i finally got some insurance on it again and im still running with a busted taillight lens without problems..

to the OP- ya suck it up and pay it.. its only 25 bucks.. haha
