are u guys who up to the 150 doing it for economical/family reasons or are u just doin it tohave a bigger truck.

iv said it on here before i really dont need power id love alittle get up and go but its not a must i can mod it to where i want it. but the point of my truck is gonna be my DD and a weekend/weeknight mudder/trail rider. these trails im riding on give a jeep cherokee a beating from branches and stuff what do u guys suggest i get?

my plans for the ranger WHERE
1)lift to accomadate 35s
2)tint windows
3)buy toolbox and fill with camper crap
4)buy suspension lift and possably bigger tires?
and fender flairs somewhere in there

i need some help i want the 4 wheel drive but also want to not spend a buttload of money on gas every week. i do tend to ride around alittle bit =P i like driving.

well something to keep in mind. When you drop a ton of money into something you gain a certain appreciation. While its fun to cruise around in your buddies Jeep and let it get all scratched and dinged, when its your truck that you just dropped $5,000 on, those scartches are going to hurt and you will probably not want to take it out and the beat the living **** out of it.

DD, means its not your friends jeep, its your truck, and you will have to fix it and pay for parts yourself.

ok so obviously the 150 has more power, but it is bigger and bulky.
the ranger fits in tighter spaces and gets alittle better gas??

im still new to trucks iv always drivin a car and been intomuscle cars so i reall need all the help i can get here guys

Thats exactly what I think of. My friend says that if he had my truck he would be out mudding and getting it covered in mud all the time. But me on the other hand have spent a good amount of money on my truck and really don't want to put unessesary money into fixing or repainting it. I don't mind a good trail every once in a while but nothing crazy and every week. a little off topic, oh well.

get the ranger that you've wanted. Much more fun to drive I think. And they go through trails much easier

well i might have made these trails sound alittle rougher then they really are cause if trails are on a scale of 1-10, 10 driving up a darm mountain then these are a 1 lol i just was curious.

ok so if i go with the ranger any quick ideas how to give it that extra giddy up.? other then the explorer axel swap which im pretty sure is out of my price range by ALOT haha

Well honestly your going to find that most of the people here are going to be like those 2 people. Not that there is anything wrong with that of course.

Me personally, I bought a truck to use it. You are going to have to pay to play. There is no way around it. But with regular maintenance, our truck can take a good thrashing. Trust me, I regularly wheel my rig hard every weekend. With just a little bit bigger tires, you are going to be surprised where it can go. As long as you are not an idiot, and don't mind some bumps and scratches, the truck will hold up fine.

save your money...do some homework first. look at all the options that were offered with the different packages, and go with what has the most of what you want from the get-go. Now, you can always add more later, which is fun, but know your limitations (in terms of money and skill).

Look at what you are wanting to do to your truck when you get it, and look for the parts first. Had I done that, I prolly would have ended up with a styleside, as toolboxes are more readily available for them as opposed to flaresides. But enough with me. If you want a lift, look into what kind of lifts are available for the two types of trucks, and keep in mind your budget and skill.

I can't stress enough: SHOP SHOP SHOP! But don't forget to make it fun, and don't stress if a truck you really like is missing something minor, as it more than likely can be added later with parts from a JY/EBAY/CL/R-F haha.

The truck I bought was only the 2nd Ranger I looked at seriously, and the last (obviously) out of 4-5 vehicles (3-4 Rangers, 1 Chevy Blazer 2D 4x4)...Had I known then what I know now, I definitely would have kept shopping!

I had a 90 ranger bought a year old. Bought it to wheel and DD. never left us stranded more than a mile ( Battery exploded) All stock kept up with the full size trucks. for the most part. Even did better than the full size. It had the 2.9 5 speed M-T-case. One of the best trucks i ever had Other than rust issues. If it was not for the rust it would still be on the road. And not a farm type truck right now. The thing took abuse ofter abuse and allways wanted more.

Got the F150 for towing. Bought 1 year old also Not one complaint. To abuse after abuse just like the ranger. DD just fine. Towing and towing. Never left us stranded. Went ever where we wanted to go. ( to a limit) This is also the best truck i have ever owned.

So really its up to you Mini or full? think what you will need later in life?
The 150 has more power, towing, room.

Me with how much i loved the ranger i think i would stick to a 150.

I will get a ranger again one day but it is going to be a prerunner type.
