Trade your ranger in, Get new one for free. Would you?
Its a question I have been kicking around for about a week. I dont know why I came up with it, its one of those random thoughts.
At first, I was like, HELL YA!
But after thinking about it, Probably not. I have done ALOT of work to my truck, and not only that but my ranger also carries with it some sentimental value as my dad helped me pick it out. I know 98% of my 'mods' have been visual based mods, even so... Now that I have had this ranger, for 5 years... I look at a new truck and all I see is MONTHS of work.
What would you do?

yes and no.
I love my truck. I just don't love the chain rattle, lack of ipod input stock, or my busted seats, can't forget the paint isn't as fresh as i'd like.
If i could just fix a few of those I'd be fine, the ipod thing i don't care about unless im going back and forth between Dayton and Cincinnati.

I couldnt do it. Even with a fully loaded ranger. though 4 doors would be awefully nice.
Its really in the air for me, but then, on Wednesday, I took in the 1995 E350 for that cruise control recall, and saw a ranger IDENTICLE to mine, (it was dark) 04, xlt value pkg, grey interior - ok almost, mine has tan. but it was the SAME truck EXTERIOR WISE... After looking at that truck for a good 2 minutes, I began to realise just how much I have actually done to mine. I mean, my truck looks nothing like it did when I bought it.
Between the work, and the $$ spent on mods and stuff... there is ALOT there. I wouldnt be surprised, if I have close to $25,000 invested into that truck over a 5 year period.
*I know people look at my truck and say 'wow' I even get that around here. but there is ALOT of 'behind the scenes' work I have done and continue to do. One of my primary goals with that truck is to keep the engine and undercarriage as clean as possible, and as new as I can... that takes alot of work.. it really does... the prep when it was new, greasing painting, all that... Hell my truck has over 120ft of extension cord running under it... If I had to repeat that process, I am sure it would take weeks, if not months to bring a new truck up to speed to this one. Sure a new one would be nice and all, but this truck, I dunno... I just 'feel' it. I can tell if she isnt running right, I know if there is a problem... I just 'know' the truck, inside and out.
I can change my oil in GOOD clothes and not get dirty, how many of you, with 60,000 miles can say that?
you open my hood it looks like a brand new engine... While a new 4 door cab would be exceptionally nice, with all my work, and the touches of my dad, I just cant bring myself to trading it in for a new one. Believe me I have thought about it. Especially now that it is paid off. My plan is to keep the truck, forever.
