havent cried this much all year....sad pics.
long story short, i did contribute to the accident by tailing a guy who was tailing my friend also....but he decided to suddenly flip a Uturn and i had nowhere to go....it was me into him, or him into me....this is what happened.
and on top of that...he ran. apparently the cops found him and i hope hes in jail right now.
at this moment i dont wanna retell the story so dont ask...maybe later. but im heartbroken.....and....ya, seeing it sit infront of my house right now just makes me so sad...and the cop that was an ******* to my friend and I...well he didnt make me feel any better.
Came out without a scratch, so far...and we'll have to see what happens. no frame damage, but idk if i can let it go.

the cabs pretty ****ed. idk how insurance would work out.
i wanna fix it though. i feel like i owe it to the truck
plus i have an axle already for it lol
#8
well you could at least get that new axle under it asap and pull the side of that bed out a bit so you can at least drive it ya know?
#9
ya well idk how insurance works these things out...if nothing was gunna happen, it'd have an axle in it right now and the bedside just off...

so story time while its fresh.
so basically i was following my friend to his house in separate cars. well he i guess saw some guy he knew and got in front of him, my friend is driving a white silverado. Apparently he got the guy he passed fired up because he flipped him off? (never asked about it..) and so the guy who got passed in the green blazer decides to chase down my friend...well im behind so i kept up with them (aka the blazer) down this semi main street. I will admit to this part of where i screwed up. I was following him decently close, my personal estimate was at the closest a car length. Well we hit an intersection (no stops signs or anything) and the blazer decides to flip a Uturn all of a sudden. Well where i was it was either tbone him, or get tboned because by the time i had to react it was between those two. Well i chose not to hit him, so i veered out and got tboned. It hit my truck's rear onto a curb and around back into the street. It broke my axleshaft so my truck was immobile.
Well my friend in the silverado was alraedy far enough ahead that he didnt see what happened, and when i looked right, the blazer was F**KING leaving!! So as i was calling my friend back he shows up and i then called the cops.
2 witnesses came out both saying that they heard it, but they only saw after i got hit, but did see the blazer leaving. BUT they told the cops that they HEARD us going atleast 50mph...
this is where i get mad. My friends silverado has dual flows and is loouud as hell....the neighbors heard him. AFTER, they hear a crash. That noise was my friends truck...not ours. And on that road which was already a semi windy street, i know i was speeding more than i should have, but i was not out of 3rd gear. I shift into 4th gear at 40mph (which is really 35 cuz my speedo is off), and at that speed, my rpms were up....at "40mph" my rpms are lugging. This means i was in 3rd gear, probably going about 30mph like i told the officer.
Lucky me though we're all teens....so i got a deuch of a cop who went off of what the "witnesses" HEARD....which was 50mph...
so apparently the cops found his truck and him....but simply just talked to him and nothing else so far. and that was a HIT AND RUN!!! my friend who works at the community golf course said he even had a nice round of golf.
So thats that story for you guys...its alot, but theres still tons more to it and tons to figure out. Im mad because i could have been dying and the guy who hit me just leaves....AND the cop is judging the speed of of audio?! there was no reasoning with him whatsoever...so ya.
and on top of that i got a speeding ticket earlier that day too.
so tomorrow im taking a few importaint things out of the mazda and it'll sadly sit across the street till the adjuster comes.
idk what to do, no frame damage, but its still alot for me to fix on my own. so idk...................
so all in all, i shouldnt have been speeding or following as close as i was which i FULLY realize BUT, i got tboned out of nowhere AND it was a hit and run.

its unfortunate that the officer you had was biased against you for being a teen, but it happens to be more the normal than not in my experience.
however, considering the situation, I think the cop made the right call, I hate to say it, but we all know you werent staring at your speedo the entire time, so your speed will be varied, and since it is possible to get up to 50mph in 3rd than Im going to say you most likely hit close to that mark during some of the driving.
you cna take it to court, which could help you with the insurance, the downside is a court will see you as the instigator, as you were the 1 tailing the other driver.
the only thing in your actual favor is the cop did not cite you for being in the wrong.
and that is a pretty good thing, as Ive been in almost the exact same situation before, except instead of tailing a stranger, I was trying to catch up to my then g/f. she drove a fiat spider, and was lost trying to find my apt. I passed her going the opposite way, turned around and tried catching up. since she was lost, she was going pretty slow (20mph or less) and there was a line of 3-4 cars behind her. the limit was 45mph so I was well within my rights to pass, so I did. the bad thing was that I couldnt see her as the vehicle immediately behind her was a fairly large truck, and she strayed over into my lane while looking at the street sign, laving me no place to go except onto the shoulder, which was soft sugar sand.... I ended up rolling my car 3 times, basically totaling it. she freaked, thinking that whoever was in the car was dead (this was my mothers car I had borrowed as mine was in the shop, so she didnt know it was me) so she took off ! well, 1 of the people behind her chased her down, and all 4 of the other drivers told the police the same story, that I was within my rights to pass since she was doing 20mph or less in a 45 zone. but the police cited me anyways for reckless endangerment.

in this situation, him running away is basically to my advantage. and yes i know its possible to go 50mph in 3rd...but with the officer and what i was getting at was that the one mean officer was trying to throw words in my mouth from the get go and wouldnt even let me tell my story without trying to correct me. On top of that, he made me hang up on my mom who was trying to find me...that got me mad too.

and my friends also said they saw his truck and it seemed like he was taking parts off of it already too...
hard to hid the fact that it was him, especially when his lisence plate was still at the scene...and the cops have it now. so ya.

I've got two rules of driving that have served me well for many years:
1) Never back up an inch further than you absolutely need. It's that last extra bit that gets you in trouble every time.
2) Don't tailgate. This has saved me more times than I can ever count. It pisses me off when somebody looks at the interval I leave in front of me and then decides to pack himself in there but I just bite my tongue and open up the gap behind *him* too. What creates crashes and panic stops for others are non-events for me because I have plenty of room to get out of the way.
I watched a group of Billy Badass Harley riders tailgating a truck today. They were riding side by side and no more than one car length behind that big rig. If anything had happened in front of the truck it'd have been a massacre. Nobody had anywhere to go but into each other or into the back of the truck. Not too smart. I think of it as natural selection.

ya. and like i said, i know im at fault too so it not like im putting the blazer at 100% fault.

that said, did the other driver at least get cited for leaving the scene ?
in FL, that is an instant citation, plus usually they heap as many other fines on top of it as they can, since the person left the scene, he leaves himself open to citations for pretty much anything the cop can think of (running a light/sign, illegal u-turn, failure to yield to right of way... etc etc) not to mention, anyone else parked on that street (if there was cars parked) can also claim any existing damage. (doubtful they will, but they can)
however, leaving the scene doesnt actually carry an arrest charge unless there was injury or death. maybe this is a good time to start claiming your back has been bothering you...
anyways, its sad to see your truck in such a state, Im with several of the others that I highly admired your truck.
