new ranger and gas mileage
just wondering what these new 4.0 sohc motors will get as far as gas mileage when broken in. i have almost 200 miles so far, yip hee!!, but i noticed that if i fill it up, i put $16 bucks in it today it was almost half full, just a line over half full, and topped it off, seems to go down pretty fast, i can watch it move when im driving. ill have to see how many miles i get from a full tank once its full again. i do most of my driving around town so i dont expect great mileage. my 4 banger mazda might have to come out for a few days if gas goes any higher. 2007 FX off road ranger. 4.0 supercab 4 door.

i got an 07 just hit 5k miles yesterday, doin 65mph on the highway i got 24mpg but driving 80hwy/20city doin about 70-80 on the hwy and city driving(hills and lots of stop n go) i get about 21mpg.. if i baby it i can get 400miles per tank and then i have like .13 gallons left haha.... finding that out wasnt fun b/c it started to sputter in the fast lane on the hwy with traffic all around hah.
but majority of hwy i get about 21mpg... with a 50/50 mix and being on the gas 80-90mph on the hwy and city driving i get about 18.5..
i have 3.55 gears and whatever stock size tires are on a xlt.

Is this post about the reading on your fuel gage? Cause it has nothing to do with MPG.
Try this: Fill your tank, zero out your Odometer, drive your truck, fill your tank, divide the number of miles on the odometer by the number of gallons you put in. Now do this over several fill ups. Average the answers and you will get a decent MPG for your truck.

You should do the air box mod that will help some
Plus it is easy to replace if you had to take it in for service
Check this for the air box mod
