Important INFO for all ranger owners.....

Ok you battery hold down is a long bolt that threads into your battery tray. now its a thin bolt and can snap VERY easiallly if you have a new truck take it out NOW and put never seaze[sp?] on the threads and put it back in think about this people steel threading into steel on a battery tray with battery acid what ever engineer designed this its a bad idea....

i just spend 3 hours yesterday having to heat up both my XLT's and my Splash's to get them out because both where snaped off when i got them.
the greese you see is white lithum greese on my terminals and on the top of the bolt. they snap right at the top of the plastic wedge

thats the hole

My battery tie down is broken all together I just have a VERY LARGE zip tie holding mine down. Best part you don't have to worry about it rusting.

My 2000 mounts the same as scotty G's and I just replaced the factory battery with a redtop and it actually came right out. My truck originated in MI then moved to potter County PA and is now in Erie Pa so it has seen nothing but salt. Just the shorter shaft reduces the stress in the shaft due to torsion as compared to the style in Zachs truck. Anti-sieze would still be a good idea for the newer design.
