Headliner water stains again!
 

Hey y'all, came from the ranger station hoping to get some more responses and insight

So I had a problem with my headliner getting soaked at the edges and having a huge water stain run across the rear of the headliner. I read its common for the third brake light to leak so I replaced the gasket I got fromfrom and used clear silicone for extra measure. That didn't help. I removed the headliner for a couple days and found two things. 1. The window seal had dropped on one side but only let in a couple drops of water. So I replaced the seal. 2. Condensation builds up all over roof, I always felt the whole headliner wet but only the rear would leave stains and get soaked.

With the recent changes I thought I had fixed my problem. The headliner was no longer getting soaked like before but could still feel it wet, perhaps from the condensation, didn't think much of it and thought it was normal. A couple weeks go by and now the rear is starting to stain again. Can't physically see water building up anywhere.

I'm stumped at this point. I would hate to remove the headliner again. I changed the left quarter glass seal for other reasons and used clear silicone on the cab corners. I have two pioneer amps that could potentially short out. And no there are no holes in my roof.

So no one knows?

Honestly, if I couldn't physically see where the water was entering with the headliner in, I would remove it again. Get inside and have a buddy go to town on the cab with a garden hose. Look for leaks around the brake light, window seals, door seals.....everywhere. Just my .02

This clear silicone you used.

1. Was it made for glass ?
2. Was it a sealant or an adhesive sealant ?
3. Were both surfaces properly prepared ?

Just plain silicone sealant won't work, you need one that is an adhesive and made for glass

I did that and left the headliner out for a week. Never did find exactly where the leak was coming from. It doesn't soak like it used to, only the stain starts to creep back after a week or two.
