Frozen clutch?

Had a new clutch installed in my 2001 Ranger last summer and it's been running great. Til this morning: back in eastern Michigan, it gets cold. Frost and snow on the truck. It started right up, revved into reverse like it was a new clutch, then sat and idled in the middle of
the street, refusing to go into any gear. No grinding, no noise, but the stick wouldn't engage in any gear. After about a minute, I guess it warmed up and slipped easily into first and we were off. No problems since.

Is this "normal"? Can't afford to replace ANYTHING else on this truck! Sick of winter.

Was the slave done with the clutch? If it was not, worry.....because you probably will be dropping the trans to do that in the not too distant future.

Both times the slave went on my Rangers was in hte dead of winter. I am guessing that the fluid gets more viscous in the cold, reulting in blowing out slaves.....but that's just my guess!

More clutch trouble! Appreciate helpful suggestions!
My 2002 Ranger runs well, but has had a LOT of clutch work done -
roughly $1,300.00 worth. Just replaced the slave cylinder. Or was it the master?
One of the two. Now that it's cold, I have to up the truck 15 minutes or more each
morning before it will slip into gear. Is this common??? Didn't have this problem last winter,
but maybe it's colder in Iowa? Poor college professor here, can't afford to keep pumping
money into this bucket. Help me out! Thanks.
