heater problems
 

I Have a problem....

My Heater recently stopped blowing hot air it is now lukewarm.
I have replaced the sensor housing next to the thermostat and thats when it all started. I then replaced the thermostat still no hot air, just checked the heater control valve inside the engine bay going to the firewall that is functioning properly. One house (bottom hose) going nto the firewall towards the heater core is hot and the other (top) is lukewarm. Engine is at operating temp.

Recently all the lights went out in the control center of the heater inside the cab not sure if that has anything to do with it or just coincidence.

Really really need help not sure where to go from here.

The fact that one hose at the firewall is hot and the other only warm means there is no flow thru the heater core.

Your heat control valve could be bad, it is either on one of those hoses or on the "by-pass" system(4 hoses)

You can try manually opening the valve and see if that other hose heats up, or by-pass everything with some couplers and see if that helps.

Several videos on how to do this, make and model of vehicle don't matter they are all the same as far as heater core.
Basically you want to push water thru the core backwards(cooler hose to warmer hose) and hopefully push out any debris that may be clogging the smaller core tubes.

I did a little more looking today and found out that the intake hose to the radiator one side (nearest the radiator) was warm like it should be and the other side (nearest the heater core) is cool. It appears that the valve is working when first looking at it. (moves in and out when I turn the heater on or off.) I am going to take that apart and get a new valve and back flush the heater core. hopefully that will work. 24 degrees on my 45 min drive to work and because the heater is not working I had to keep one of the windows down to keep the windows from frosting up.
