Hella 500 and Hella 500FF

jtslmn720 04-19-2009 06:35 PM

What do those do?

FireRanger 04-19-2009 07:03 PM

Its called fluting. Spreads the light out to the sides a bit.

Downey 04-19-2009 07:13 PM

so what one is better the FFs are more like flood light and regular 500s are longer range?

skier2880 04-19-2009 07:42 PM

I guess it just depends on what kind of roads you drive on and your personal preference. I prefer a long range light, but I plan to get some driving daylighters as well to go with the long range lights I have already.

thats kinda what i was thinking getting a set of each and putting the long range lights in the middle and the "flood" lights on the outside of the 4

Sounds like you'll have full coverage :439:

I think a few members have mentioned that the 500's aren't all that bright, anyway. I know Chuck said his Silverstars in his head lights were brighter.

Downey 04-19-2009 07:58 PM

Jasons (chevyslaver) are bright as hell there a lot brighter than his head lights

skier2880 04-19-2009 08:02 PM

Do they use an H3 bulb? Just uprage them to a 100 or 130 watt bulb if they do.

Yes

pfft. My 500's are very bright. Way brighter then my silverstars.

The ff's are like floodlights, were as the 500's are like spotlights.

i had no complaints, they are not 150wt KC daylighters but they put out a ton of light and as long as you aim them how you want theyll be bright enough

i love my hella 500s

i had the understanding that the free form ones have a longer skinnier beam
and the ones with the parabolic lenses spread the light out more.

Mine have been great as well man. I have them behind the grill and they are still super bright, well worth the price

FFs are spotlights and regular 500s are more spread out light. I have 2 FFs in the middle and 2 500s on the outside pointing a little down and out for night wheeling.
