Looking at this Ranger tomorrow. Need opionions...

Hey guys, haven't been on here in some time as work and working on my house I bought last year have been keeping me very busy! But here's the thing, I've been looking for another 2wd Ranger to lower and make a street truck again like my old 2000. I have a lifted 99 ranger and am missing the lowered. I'm not looking to spend a fortune though and it seems the market for even the 2wd Rangers is doing very well right now (Not good for me) but I ran across this one on Craigslist last night and am going to look at it tomorrow. My plans would be to do the DJM 4/5 like my last Ranger, new grille, clear corners, rollpan, and some Saleen wheels. I'm just not sure how I feel about the color. Don't look at white as being very sporty looking on a ranger and well, since this will be a street truck....what are your guys opinion on the color? It has a newer transmission with warranty, new windshield and back slider. I think I can get it for $2,500 and the best part, it has the 4.0L SOHC! Been looking hard for a 2wd with the SOHC motor in it. Let me know what you guys think. Good deal or no?

I don't think it's a bad deal. If it were me, I'd look for a different color, but white Rangers can look good if they're done right. You can sell the rims to help pay for mods, which is a plus. The seats look pretty dirty in the pics, but you can fix that.

What's the orange thing on the sides of the back glass?

Yeah, white is not my favorite on a lowered Ranger. The miles are high at 260K but he said it runs and drives great. The orange stuff is tape to hold the glass since the windshield and rear window are freshly installed. I am also going to look at a black stepside with 160K on it as well. They are asking $7,125 for it though at the local Ford dealer which is NUTS. I'm going to throw out an offer and if they take it great, if not I'm walking. Here is the other one I really want.

That steppie would be nice with a drop. Looks really clean for its age. Price is really high though. I don't know what the KBB is, but I wouldn't pay more than about $5,200 for it.

Considering the dealer only paid like 3k for it and had to detail it, there's some room to wiggle

Yeah, the markup on used cars is a whole lot more than new cars. That's where dealerships make their money. When I bought the Fusion (new), I hammered them so hard on the price that they wound up showing me their invoice to prove they were losing money on the offer I gave them. Wound up paying about $200 over the invoice lol

Well I end up not getting either lol. The salesman at the Ford dealer didn't even ask me if I wanted to make an offer on the truck after I drove it. He didn't seem weather he cared to sell a car or not! I think I'll hold off getting another Ranger to lower. The 2wd's are just as expensive as the 4wd's! I paid less for my 05 Mercedes C230 sport with the supercharged 6 speed manual with only 75K miles than they are asking for that Ranger with 160K! Outrageous! I want one but not that bad lol.
