Bad MPG, please read!
I have a '01 Ranger V6 3.0 Edge and i am getting awful gas mileage(10 city, 14 hwy), I have tried everything, new plugs and wires(gapped properly), cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the MAF, new fuel filter, new air filter, new PCV valve, and i have also tried injector cleaner, and made sure the tires are properly inflated. NOTHING seems to work! Can anyone post any ideas that you have? im going to try everything i can, thank you so much!!

there are a few mechanical things you can check too. try checking the drag on your drum breaks. i recently did an explorer axle upgrade with disks and got better mpgs out of less drag via less contact patch on the pads. also just because there are no CEL lights doesnt mean somthing is not coming. it takes some many times of the issue to occur before it trips the light. look into having a live diagnostic done and see just what exactly is going on

theory behind cold air intake (CAI) is that cooler air is more dense with combustible molecule like oxygen and hydrogen. Also your ECU has preset air/fuel mixes. so with the addition of more air you will get worse mileage due to more fuel being dumped in to compensate for additional air. I say its a no go. people will argue differently.

Cai for mpgs or power is pointless. It makes a cool sound, yeah but pointless.
As for my findings on mpgs from drum to disk, it's deffiney there. That is the only thing that changed..... I take that back. I did go ip in weight because the axle is much heavier.
The next few things to do is hook it to a vaccum gauge. Also look into your hubs and wheel bearings causing drag.

With my ATVs (never done it with a car) I would start the vehicle and let it run and then spray starting fluid all over the carb (intake area) and see if the RPMs changed any.
