Cost of Maintenance

Girlfriend was complaining about helping me do some maintenance the other day. Plugs, Fuel Filter, And Oil Change. Anybody have an idea what this would cost to get done by a shop just the labor end of it. Really curios Ive always done my own stuff but just wondered how much i really save.

oil change is about $50 for the oil/filter and labor.

the local mechanic charges something like $20/hr for labor. that's why i started doing my own stuff.

Plugs with Labor: $125.99
Fule Filter with Labor: $59.99
Oil/Filter Change: $9.99

Thats the cheap rates here. I know all of the prices because I have paid those prices...

The Ford dealership in Lawrence Kansas charges ( $90.00 an hour ) plus parts!

That should give you a general idea.

$20 an hour is superrrrr low, i would pay to have my truck worked on if they charged that haha

i know that between brake jobs, oil changes, tie rods, ball joints, u-joints, replacing rearends/ gears/ seals, transmission services, r&r radiators and heater cores, coolant flushes, thermostats, intake and head gaskets, transmission swaps and every other thing ive done myself for the last 10 years ive saved thousands of dollars on maintinence labor. it pays to do it yourself.

We just recently adjusted our labor rate at work. It was around 100 an hour down to 85 I think now. They figured they could get more work for us which has sorta worked

My mechanic's rate is $60/hr (Canadian funds) or $70/hr if you supply your own parts.

The big fancy shops around here are $80-90/hr labour, again, Canadian dollars.
