HELP QUESTIONNNNN
If you look at the intake system on your Ranger you'll see that it is basically a cold air intake straight from the factory. The air box where the filter is located draws air in from the outside already.
If you add an aftermarket "cold" air intake, all your doing is drawing hot air in from the engine compartment. Yeah, an aftermarket system looks "neat" but it really doesn't do anything other than make a bit of noise, and that noise is what gives your "butt dyno" the feeling that your getting more power.
The regular plain old paper air filter does a fine job of cleaning all the air your engine can use.
There is a noise baffle inside the airbox where it connects to the front that can be removed to give it a bit more sound. Google up "removing sound baffle from Ford Ranger". There may be a sticky somewhere on the forum also.
If you just gotta have one, just google up air intake systems for a 1994 Ford Ranger. Lots of places ready and eager to take your $$$
You will be better off taking that $$$ and putting it toward a good free'r flowing cat-back exhaust system, That will give you a nice sound and also give you a few additional horsepower.

That is info that some with the 4.0 engine could answer better than I...have a 2.3 in my Ranger with stock exhaust. Have had many many vehicles in the past and many with aftermarket systems. The better ones added that nice growl and horsepower, but no experience with a 4.0 Ranger.
Just post your question and I'm sure many will jump in.
