I got some stone 'chips' in my chrome mirror caps, and as a result the chrome is starting to bubble in spots :(

However I have any idea, that might work.

I think, that invisible bra crap they put on front of new cars to protect the paint might actually work for this particular application, However looking online at like autozone, and napa havent yielded any DIY results.

Id hate to pay someone to apply this stuff, but anyone have a clue as to where I can get this? Preferrably locally.

I have used it on my tailgate. You need a spray bottle with the liquid to apply the material. I was lucky and we use it at work. I believe you can mix up a batch of your own if you search internet. Just spray the crap out of the area you are applying it to. This keeps the plastic easy to move. Use a plastic squeegee to get all the liquid and air out from behind the plastic making sure not to have it move. Really easy to apply.

Email the dealer or 3M and ask if it will stick to chrome?

 

After i got my hood painted i asked my painter about it, he said that stuff usually looks like crap installed.

 

I have it on my truck and its saved my paint job more than once. Short of looking really close you cant even see it.

We have an independent contractor here that applies it to our new vehicles. I think it looks FREAKIN AWESOME. Yes, you will see a little hint of a line (If you choose the half-hood).. but the thing is clean. We actually have a 2000 Porsche Boxster here that we we bought from a customer, it had the film on it (we call it "Clear Choice") and it's just starting to yellow (the car's silver). That's 8 years!!!.

The product is a little bit expensive, but I think it's worth it. Applying the product on yourself is not going to be easy. It takes a LOT of time.. and you're going to have to work to get rid of bubbles.

just clean them realy good and spray some clear on then.
