Deactivation switch recall expanded

The recall of the speed control deactivation switch has been expanded to include more years and more Ford vehicles. The Ranger still is not included in the recall.

Actually I did. As I understand it, the Ranger used the same deactivation switch as the one in the recall until about 2002 1/2~2003. After that, the switch was sourced from a new vendor and the wiring was changed so that the DA switch has its own fuse and it is hot only with the ignition is on.

i figured, when you said STILL it sounded like it was a possiblity.

i remember you discussing this when it first come out.

the fix is pretty crappy and they dont take any care when doing it.

my dad's truck had the recall, he took it in unhooked his truck and for 6 months had no cruise. after 6 months pasted he just took it back in since they hadnt called and they had the little jumper/fuse holder fix, they took 30 min, threw it on and zipped it up but never trimmed the ties or anything. looked like a wire mess.

can you just disconnect the cruise control, and then there wont be any risk of fire? I wouldn't need the cruise control anyway. My current truck doesn't have cruise control either, and i've got by without it fine.
