HIDS

so i have a 1997 ford ranger and want to get hids. im gonna get them threw DDM Tuning, but not sure what watt i should get. what would be better, the 35w or 55w? i dont know much about the hids and the whole hi an low kits. but is there a way i can have my hids as my brights and then have just my normal driving lights? thanks

First off...PLEASE only get 35 watt. They are already gonna reflect like crazy in that type housing. Truly, Hids are supposed to be used in projector type housings. As far as the hi/low, we only have one bulb for both hi and low so if you want hi and low it has to be a hi/low hid and if you get a low beam only hid setup you will only have low beam. Hope that helps.

35w is bright enough. I have the 35w 6K Hi/Low and I'm having a problem with them. I'd just get the low 35w and what ever K you want. What do you mean normal driving lights?

Just get a single low beam, 35 watt ballast kit. The Hi/low kits are crap IMO.

Do you have Stock headlight housings? If so I'd get some clear ones first because the stock housings are going to glare like a sum *****

No. The HID replaces the stock bulb in the assembly. You would only be able to run the HID. Also, HIDs take a about 10 seconds to fully "heat up", and if you were running them as ONLY a bright light, you wouldn't be able to see good for the first few seconds.
