I would think that doing an axle swap to the exploder 8.8 31 spline with discs and re mounting the perches would be easier and cheaper. Unless you got hooked, the F up I thought I remember the conversion being hella-expensive.

but oh well its bought and delivered now there is no turning back lol jk. I'm looking forward to the how-to even though I will probably never have the moeny to do something like this.

Conversion is only an option IF you have an FX4 L2 with the 31spline axle. It will not work on any other.

Is that true just because of the mounting brackets or are there other different parts.

It is due to the size of the axle tube. The break backing plate mounting is the same on the FX4 axle and all the other large bearing/31 spline 8.8 variations.

Bill was telling me about a guy that tried with a 28spline by making his own mounting and he is having major clearnace issues with the ebrake shoes and the axle shaft flange.

they make alot of conversion kits and options for the 8.8 in 28 spline and 31 spline all you have to do is search.

SSBC makes them, there are other sites too, and more options depending on your wheel size u are running

Ok the kit cost me 308.XX from summit, plus probably another 150 with flex lines and ebrake cables. This kit has been installed on the 28 spline axle but requires you weld up the holes in the backing plate and drill new ones for your application, not sure about ebrake functionality though. It has been done by a gentlemen on TRS and he has the template as well for the holes needed for the 28 spline. I will include all of this other information in the How To.

The only issue that I am now running into is the Banjo Bolt for the calipers, NO LOCAL auto parts store has them though I am currently working on this situation and at this time should have the parts for saturday.

Here are a couple teaser pics of the new bling parts.
