Hole in Frame...

Found a hole in my frame today but its towards the front on the back side where the Frame is 4 sided and not 3 sided like the back. Should I be in any hurry to get this fixed or should I be fine if I hold it off for awhile?

Pics:

PS: Yes I know my frame needs painted bad ha. Starting that project tomorrow.

your gonna need to fix more than just that hole...the whole surrounding area looks thin...fix it ASAP or get rid of the truck

The stuff that is flaking is a rubberized undercoating that I had put on a few years ago. Its not metal from the frame flaking off. I know a shop that specializes in fixing frames so I will have to give them a call and see how much it'll cost to get fixed I guess. I'm taking the truck to Texas in a few weeks so I'm not really in the position to get rid of it just yet.

i would be worried about what could be under the undercoat but hopefully everything is fine other than that one spot

Wierd to see it up there in the front. I've only seen it in the rear where the box and cab meet and near the spring hangers. I'd fix it and drive it still.

Cut out a section larger than the rusted area, weld up new plate. Slap a coat of paint on it and call it a day.

I know that's what I was thinking. That's what I'm going to do. My dads friend has a Dakota that he's had the frame patched 4 times due to cracks and he still DDs it.

I'm sure that's something that they do. I can't let the frame go before the engine does Haha.

$80 isnt that bad.

Did they charge an hourly rate, or just for the task?

Was that caused by road salt, you think? Not bad for $80!
