ugh someone please talk me outta it!!

After seeing a thread with a whole bunch of pre-runner rangers on here, I now want to sell my superlift, forget about sas and go pre-runner. Go to actual long travel with coil overs in front, run like 33" all terrains, get fiberglass fenders, lots of lights/custom bumpers, a locker in the rear, etc. I think it would be so badass. I already have my offroad truck which is a 84' toyota pickup that's in my signature. It's super capable offroad. I just have always wanted a pre-runner. I never use 4x4 in my ranger anymore anyways. Plus I think they're so cool. Please don't talk about it being an 07'. That's not a big deal. I love modding everything I have that has a motor. So whether this is a 97 or an 07, please don't use that as an example! Don't mean to sound like a jerk. thanks.

lots of deserts in Oregon? no need for a true pre runner. but it is your truck so, if you want one, go for it.

I love your truck the way it sits right now. I think it looks more BA now than it would a prerunner.

haha yeah... Part of me says go for it and part of me says I just want to do it on impulse because I saw some pictures and wanted a cool truck like that. I've just been thinking, why sas my ranger when I already have a yota that will out perform it even after I sas the ranger and do all the goodies??

you already have your yota for a wheeler so a prerunner would be a nice addition since the ranger will never touch your yota without a SAS and some other serious mods.

lol, we were all typing at the same time

lol I say don't do it. If you have the money to through a Dixon bros kit on that truck why not buy another truck to prerunner? Get a 2wd and the Camburg kit is a hell of a lot cheaper. In the long run you would spend the same but you would have 3 trucks, and the ranger would still be nice. And 5.0 the ranger and then you could have a tow pig.

x2. you and your buddy have the wrong platform to begin with IMO if you can't afford a Dixon Brothers Kit.

I wish I would have went with the DBR setup in a way. Only because I would be on 33s not 37s and probably wouldnt have a power issue. Plus I really like wheeling on the sand.

We have plenty of sand to play in. Sometimes you have to watch out for pine trees, though.

You dont need to have dunes and deep sand for a prerunner style truck to be useful. You can fly through easy and moderate trails that dont require 4wd and you can go out in open fields and just have a ball hauling ***.

There are a lot of pine stands and woods around me that dont require 4wd. There are basically a bunch of unkept dirt roads (hunting trails) that are fun to just fly down.

Thus, I wand a pseudo pre-runner. I'm not going to do fiberglass flare fenders, but I am going to get small wheel spacers (have to anyway to clear my spindles) like 2" and I want the front to sit a little higher than the back and I want to do a 2" BL so I can turn the torsions DOWN a bit to get more articulation (depending on how bad that makes the body roll). Good, fast reaction shocks and enough power to keep her moving. Tube bumpers for better angles of attack.

You can run up hill climbs in 2wd instead of powering up them like the 4wd guys would do. You can haul *** over less than ideal surfaces and still stay in control. You can still tow, haul, etc...

I know guys who have prerunner style trucks that only haul the off road toys to the destination. They drive them daily and IMO they look more badass than just a mud truck since there aren't a lot of them.
