How to Change Drum Brakes [Video]

Hey guys, I had to change my rear brakes so I made a how to video for anyone who wants to change their rear drum brakes! I know drums scare a lot of people because of all of the small springs and parts...

So here is an in-depth video:

And the shorter, overview video will be out soon!!!

Great "How-To" video. I have done them before, but it's nice to see a good video just to refresh your mind after having cars with calipers all around.

I haven't watched the vid, but if it's like your others I'm sure it'll come in handy for someone. I haaaaaate drum brakes. Semi-truck air brakes aren't my favorites either.

On another note, keep cranking out the vids Mike! I'm sure eventually one of them will come into play for me.

Thanks guys! I make videos as stuff happens and I need to fix it! I figured it would be a big help for someone else out there so I make them! Love the feedback and my next project will be the dashboard lights (my center one blew)...

I was told to always replace the piston; As all that gunk that can find its way in there and damage the seals, any wisdom on that?

Sounds reasonable... My pistons, although rusty on the outside, work well so I didnt want to touch them... They are hard to get off and then you have to bleed the brakes...

hey great vid and some past vids. just a few tips i used when i did mine instead of adjusting the star adjuster by hand i just would drive backwards and stop a few times because its a self adjuster and will move out to the proper position with about 3 or 4 times stopping while in reverse. also i would spray down the drum and shoes with parts cleaner before you button everything else. hope these tips help take them or leave them. great vid

This could help. The gas level light is out. One of the lights behind the speedo is out too, so from like 50-70 its pretty much blind at night.
