how much is too much?

how much will you be willing to spend on a gallon of gas for the ranger till you want some thing a little more effecient

i think my limit might be $4 cause then im lookin at about 70 to fill it up a week and thats gonna kill me

what about every one else how much $$ will you dish out before you think about selling your baby

Trigger01 Apr 28, 2008 08:30 PM

I am not selling. Period. I will be buying a motor cycle here in a few weeks so the truck will just get used on the weekends or when it rains. I will not get rid of my truck.

If I were to fill my truck up from empty it would cost me $65 to fill up right now. I am still planning on taking it to FL this June too.

braddokxlt Apr 28, 2008 08:32 PM

same ill ride a peddle bike befor i sell my truck

jtslmn720 Apr 28, 2008 08:34 PM

right now it would just wouldnt be cost effective to get another car instead of the truck. im considering getting a motorcycle or a vespa or something.

but probably 4.50-5 will be the point where i go nuts and walk everywhere

SuperGildo@RRP Apr 28, 2008 08:35 PM

Actually since gas is more expensive, I only put premium shell gas in. I figure if I am gonna pay up the pooper, I might as well get exactly what I want.

but the efficiency question is a moot point. I dont think you could ever be "too efficient"

duckbuster1888 Apr 28, 2008 08:36 PM

im with ^^^ if it gets to 5 bucks i am walking

dbking321 Apr 28, 2008 08:42 PM

i want to get a bike but my mom wont let me and i sooo wish i was older and could get a real job. considering my 200 pay checks and spending 140 of it on gas sucks balls oo and not to mention my 900 for insurance every 6 months

Downey Apr 28, 2008 08:55 PM

i wont sell my truck i will ride my bike to school and work if i have to thats 20 miles a day

Redneckstone Apr 28, 2008 09:02 PM

when it hits $4.. i want to buy a 351w 1995ish bronco...

keep buying the honda's and prius and i'll keep buying trucks.. sounds good to me

already had a little car.. aka escort.. dear god never again... i like my GF little focus but i dont fit in it.. I am too tall the seat doesnt go back enough and then the steering wheel feels to far away.. Def little cars are designed for little people..

Fx4wannabe01 Apr 28, 2008 09:04 PM

I don't care. honestly. I like at $5 i'll start driving the subaru again. The ranger is just too comfortable to sell or park. That's only if i'm still working 35miles away. If I'm at school...ranger all the way. I ain't selling. Hell....I wanna get my good old 7mpg 400hp chevy back on the road. I don't care.

bdiddy Apr 28, 2008 09:15 PM

I don't think I'm going to ever get rid of my truck regardless of gas prices. If they get too high I'll buy a bike (which I want to do anyways but that would be a good excuse).

99ranger4x4 Apr 28, 2008 09:29 PM

i dont want to get rid of my truck
that and i wont get didly squat for it as it sits so why try?

its 3.26 here and thats ****in bad, i remember when i moved up here at the end of September it was like 2.60..

dbking321 Apr 28, 2008 09:32 PM

its 3.65 here

BLOODBANE Apr 28, 2008 09:48 PM

MPG whats that. I get 10.7 out of my F-350 and I just had a 347 built for my Ranger(I got the oil leak fixed too). Fortunately I have a XR600R DualSport, so if it gets super bad I will just wheel the Ranger and ride my bike. Bad thing is the car seats don't fit so well on the bike.....

t3ob Apr 28, 2008 09:51 PM

I don't care how high gas gets I'm not gettin rid of my truck. I'll just stop ridin around town so much, and drive like your suppose to to save gas. I love my truck, now if I still had my 92 F-150 now that would be another story...

dude, we need to meet up and go hit independence!!!!!!

PharmRanger4x4 Apr 28, 2008 10:01 PM

Doubt I'll get rid of the Ranger regardless of gas prices. As gas goes up, I drive less and use my old fashioned bike more. Otherwise I just car pool. Gas split between 4 people is pretty cheap.

I guess I'm lucky that my summer job is only 2 miles away from home, I use about 5 gallons a week then.

99ranger4x4 Apr 28, 2008 10:06 PM

i get 11-12mpg
but i have 4.88s, 35s and a heavy foot
so i asked for it, if i cared that much about fuel economy i would find a geo or something

Bojib Apr 28, 2008 10:09 PM

I won't be getting rid of mine either. I have the Saab to drive when it gets too expensive, but until then I'll keep of driving the Ranger.

REUBER Apr 28, 2008 10:27 PM

stop eating fat cakes and you will have money for gas.

I drive a government vehicle....it can be 400000000000 a gallon....the government pays for it. They get there time out of me so w/e,.................

99XLTOffroad Apr 28, 2008 10:37 PM

Won't get rid of my big beast either. $4.50+ a gallon here for diesel right now. Oh well i love the truck too much.

buggman Apr 28, 2008 10:38 PM

By the end of summer, gas will be $5+ a gallon... most people will have to sell their vehicle in order to afford a tank of gas.

2by4 Apr 28, 2008 10:52 PM

I couldnt see me getting rid of my truck the gas here in kelowna is 132.9 a litre and i fill up 2 times a weeks so i pay alot but it seems normal everyone here seems to drive trucks and not mind paying alot for it lol. either way this summer is going to be expensive lol

Fx4wannabe01 Apr 28, 2008 10:55 PM

Both political partys have sold the american people out. We need to drill off the coast(s). We need to drill in Anwar. Bottom line, we won't get off foreign oil by using less of it, we need to drill for our own oil. Ethanol doesn't pencil out. Biodiesel doesn't pencil out. Hybrids don't pencil out in the long run or short for that matter.

Bottom line, trucks are on their way out until there's some new technology that allows for this new 35mpg brand wide requirement that congress is making happen.

WowMike2001 Apr 28, 2008 10:59 PM

Yep, I don't think I woudl ever get rid of my truck just because of gas prices.. I honestly am tempted to go buy a pedal bike for work.. I only live about 6 miles away.. only problem is, its all downhill.. So I'm shooting myself in the arse by having to ride a pedal bike all the way back up =)
