Numbers in from Insurance...

Just got the call from my mom. Here is what they're offering:

Total value: $13326.44 less $500 deductible

Total value to me: $12826.44

Salvage value: $11648 plus I keep the truck.

EDIT: KBB can't link directly and keep the info, but it was $14,625 for my truck.

KBB is not including the cost of the lift/exhaust left on the truck (Close to $2,000) more.

If they give me KBB plus half the money I invested minus my deductible, we're looking at ~$15k. While I can't find listings for a comparable truck locally, I've found comparable listings for my truck elsewhere, where dealers are selling my truck for upwards of $14k, so I know KBB is not unreasonable. If I can get them up to ~$15k, then I can buy back the truck, let y'all have a salvage-spree with it, keep some of the things I want from my old truck, and probably make back the cost of the buy-back plus a little so I can afford the Level 2 I'm looking at.

Anyone here have any advice on how to procede from here? My parents and myself are not really sure what to do or say.

You are not gonna get anything for what you invested. That's a moot point since you didn't allow them to raise the rates to cover it. The dollars actually sound very reasonable.

unless u told the insurance co. that u had mods done before the accident, then they are not gonna cover it.

I personally would try to get the truck back and sell off parts and keep what you want from it... you had alot of **** invested in it that could be salvaged.. look at your sig, lots of good stuff in there :P

Yeah I do plan on doing that. I don't know that there is still 2000 bucks worth of stuff on there unless I can find a buyer for the engine and transmission!

Kbb is always high. you can get an '03 fx4 l2 with 37k miles for 16,500. Go to nadaguides.com or edmunds.com. Then look on autotrader for a truck comparable to yours and see what it is selling for. Their payout should be around those numbers.

NADA doesnt take into account a 4.0 vs. a 3.0? 4.0s are much harder to find around here.

The chances of you actually making back the buy back amount by selling of parts is slim. I had a friend try this and he ended up losing about 3-4k because he bought it back and tried selling things off. Honestly i'd try and get your aftermarket stuff off. Other wise just let them have the truck and use what you get to get a new truck.

The buyback on the truck is about 1700. All I REALLY want off there is my wheels and tires and my lift. If they're not giving me any money for them then they are still mine.

Anybody looking for any parts in particular?

Part of my dilemma is that i can't really get the lift and stuff off where it's at right now. Unless they'll take a truck that won't roll onto a wrecker? it'd be a huge pain in the *** to try and take it all back to stock. just getting the lift parts off would not be as difficult.

Should have been included:

33x12.5R15 BFG A/T KOs (Would be pro-rated based on tread depth)
15x8 Eagle Alloy 186s (Should have been included based on condition)

Might have been included:

4" Superlift Suspension lift
WAAG Sportster push-bar
PIAA 520 Ion series foglights

Prob not included:

Cobra DX19III CB radio with 25w PA
Borla Pro-XS muffler with dual 3.5x22" tips

CD6 (if OEM No)

Not included:

t-bar crank, Airbox Mod, Spicer U-Joints, 130 amp alternator, FX4 LII Towhooks.

Ask them for an itemized break down. This will show you what items they are covering and at what amount.

They go by trade-in value (what a dealership would give you for it) not retail value (what a dealership would sell it for.) KBB (and all the other books) take into account that a dealership expects to make $1-2K profit on any vehicle, and thats part of it. ~$1500 less than dealer retail is about correct.

For $1700 it would probably be worth buying the truck back, assuming you have the time and energy to strip and ship all the parts people want. Take into account also that you'll eventually have to pay to have it hauled off to a scrapyard once you've stripped every usable part off of it, but you'll still probably come out ahead.

I messed up my numbers. It would cost 200 to get it taken to my uncle's, about 1150 to buy it back. Then the cost of taking it to a yard.

How would I get it to a yard though if it has no front or rear suspension (i will remove the lift and sell the rear axle.)???

Dont know about where your at, but here the junk yards will come to you and pick-up running or not. Most use a tilt flat bed with winch and just drag it on and give ya between 100 - 200 dollars in scrap.

Make some wooden dollies to roll it on and off of a flatbed wrecker? Use several large hydraulic jacks?
