For a nice truck that is reliable, take offroad, maybe pull a trailer, I love the Fords.

As for a DD, reliable, gas mileage, I could car less WTF it is long as it lasts....taco, FIAT, Chevy, Nissan, Kia.....who cares long as it is reliable

ok well im not reading all of this, but i will say this...

My dad was the FIRST person in buffalo NY to use a E350 cube van as a construction vehical. now everyone uses tthem. He modified the CRAP out of that ford. Then we got another E350 a 1995 cube van. with some gripes....

the oil pan rusted out, its $1000 at the dealer to replace the oil pan. why? cause you gotta jack up the engine to get it out!! WTF?!?!?!?! So, dad, being the cheap dude he is, used a wire wheel, and sand paper, and cleaned the oil pan, let it drain for a week, and then epoxied the entire pan. Many folks said this would not work, including multiple FORD mechanics. geuss what? that was 3 years ago, and its just starting to leak a little tiny bit. were talking, a tablespoon of oil leakage a month.

Ford does do some pretty screwed up stuff... and alot of their mechanical designs leave alot to be desired. However I think their design flaws have more to do with management then it does with the engineers. I think Ford, like other american car makers, need to re assess how they conduct business with the consumer, and then re do their entire management. They need to go from being selfish to being more customer oriented if their going to survive in this country. Especially today. Customer satisfaction is bigger than money saved today. Today, people are more apt to pay MORE money for better SERVICE than to pay less for crappy service. IE Ford vs Imports.

Take this scenario for example of 'service'.

In May, my father, was DEATHLY ill. I actually thought that was it for my dad. I really did. With all the things going on with dad, and the downright confusion with the bills and stuff, I totally 100% FORGOT about the truck payment. This was partially my fault, since SOMETIMES we get a different mail man and they deliver the mail to the shop instead of the house. well i rarely use the man door on the shop, I usually use the openeer.... well they delivered my ford bill to the shop, and i totally forgot to pay it.

So, once i remembered i hadnt paid for my ranger i called them that moment! and said YO! LOL I totally forget I get a check out to u TODAY. They gave me the address I made out a check for $300 and sent it out. I figured all was good. I sent $300 to show good faith. I called them a week later to check on status... they hadnt gotten it. I was told by a FORD customer service rep that if I call monday that i could get an extension. what he failed to tell me, is that by tuesday it hits my credit and my dads credit! for being 30 days passed due! NO WHERE in ANY of my paper work does it state such. and no other comapny i have dealt with in the passed does this. So, that saturday my dad called to try to work something out... they suggested a wire transfer. so thats what I did. I sent them a wire transfer of $500 on saturday for walfart. and then, called monday, to see if it cleared and they had no record of it. so from what they were telling me vs what i did, i figured my credit was phucked over this, and that because i have never made a late payment in my life, my dad being extremely ill ford was going to **** on me cause i was going thru a difficult time. the reps were very unhelpful and treated both me and dad like total garbage. Legally the truck is my dads, as im a co signor under my dad. and its like, here we are playing THEIR game by paying for it over a poeriod of time, instead of just writing a check for the full amt. and they REFUSED to give us any leeway what so ever.

My aunt had a similar situation, her husband, my uncle has alltimers(sp) she forgot about her Kia payment. called them about it, however she was at day 29. I was at day 26 at day 30 with ford it hits your credit... supposedly 'automatically' anyways, she explained the siutuation to Kia, and they told her, DONT WORRY ABOUT IT! and to make a payment asap and that it wouldnt reflect on her credit, and it didnt!

to me thats HUGE. and that has left me with a cold dead feeling with ford. and that difference can mean HUGE amoutns of money saved for the consumer. Just think, if you get a black mark like that from ford, or another LARGE company, everything u have goes up.... your car insurence goes up, your credit card interest rates go up, all that crap goes up in price, and challenging that 'black mark' is a real btch.... and yet its like, even tho you tried, like in my case i tried my damnedest to pay that as soon as possible, and they would not give my any leeway at all... where as a FOREIGN car manafactuer gave my aunt leeway...

So yes ford needs to work on customer satisfaction. and their dealers are sharks, they need to do something about keeping their dealers in line with customer happiness.

btw, my payment did post that saturday that I wired it over, however their 'system' didnt reflect such until 2 days AFTER it would have it hit our credit. this ONE situation caused me and my dad a boat load of stress neither one of us needs.... and cause of that one incident, both me and dad are a bit less 'Go Ford'

and their customer satisfaction as far as fixing broken stuff under warranty? leaves ALOT to be desired. I have come to the conclusion its less agrevating to fix the stuff myself, vs arguing with ford that something does work.... like my pwer dorr locks on the driverside. the fact that my power window took a dump at 14K miles and the motor the replaced it with doesnt have the 'oomph' that the original one had... yet im 'dilirious' so am i a happy customer as far as Fords customer service? NO. but i do love my truck

Hyundai/Kia is a good Company. I used to own an 01 Hyundai Accent. got it with 17K miles on it. was a great little car. only rated at 97 horsepower but it weighed 2187 lbs, compared to about 3800 for my Ranger. was a quick little car. had no issue's in traffic, but it was a little sluggish at 65-80 mph. sold it with 48K miles on because..well. I wanted a truck. plus I felt kinda odd driving around in it. I'm 6.3, 210 lbs. but I had no problems fitting in it.

only issue I had with it was parts when I was away at school. plus the fact that the insurance was a lot more on the Accent then the Ranger. the Accent cost more to repair since most scrap yards I found didn't have any. but It was still under factory warranty when I sold. plus 3 years left on power train. so if anything mechanical would break. Hyundai would be getting the bill. only warranty work I had done to it was when the wiper motor broke at 46k miles. they fixed it with no questions asked. if I was in the market for a car I would prohibably get another Hyundai (flame suit on). that company has come a long long way in ten years.

BTW. the Hyundai has a contract with government so they can unload there cars at Port Huaneme Naval base. in Oxnard California. when I brother-in-law was in the navy I used to spent a week there in the summer. There where lots full of Hyundai's.

I am not reading this whole thread because I think you all are on the rag! But I do want to say I hate my ford and am embarassed to drive it!

Seriously I am, It is a POS, It's not Fords fault, but I never talk about it because of how horrible it is. The expedition is great for what it is, but it isn't cool and the explorer is a slow, ugly, creeking rusting, piece of Goose sh**!

Now I still like rangers, I had problems with them, but managable. I had a Top of the line Ranger and I will state the Tacoma is a better truck. I could care less about foolish auto pride, that is a fact, in every way possible, on paper, behind the wheel, or in the shop. Get over it. If the fact that it is better pisses you off get off your *** and call ford and demand a better product. Don't go around *****ing about how the consumer abandoned ford, ***** about how ford abandoned the consumer. Would I buy another ranger? Hell yeah! I think they are awesome. But They are an old outdated product that has been neglected and forgotten about. Would I buy a tacoma? Hell yeah, If I found one for what I considered reasonable.

This is a Conservative saying you can take all that "built in the U.S.A." crap and stuff it. Guilting people into buying an inferior product is not the way they should be doing business. and until they do, They will continue to lose. To tell you the truth, Ford can learn a few things from GM. They are actually starting to turn around and offer decent products as reasonable prices. It's a wonder they are the only american company not in danger of losing all together. If I bought a new Full size truck today it would be a GMC. If I bought a Car it would be a G8 in the near future, If it was an SUV it would be a TrailBlazer SS. All of which are really reasonably priced compared to a ford and get better gasmileage with better performance.

Now I think the Colorado/Canyon is a whole mess of ugly so I would still buy the ranger, but every remaining year they become less apealing. THe only ford I'd consider buying 07+ is the mustang, everything else is either but ugly (07+ superduty) or just a borning passenger vehicle. I honestly won't be surprised if ford loses the "number one selling truck" badge in the near future.

And if being dissapointed in the current offerings from ford, a company that breaks my heart to not be excited about, is worthy of getting the boot, then ban me now. I thought blind loyalty went out with Hitler.

ahem, all i have to say is that i like me, err sorry a red vs blue moment there.
I like my truck. no issues yet with it and it has been a year. that reminds me i have to get it inspected this month.

my father still has an 86 f-150 with about a million miles that he bought off the showroom floor, body shot but engine is strong, and gotta love a "3 on the tree" most people look at it and are like WTF? they also have a 90 E250 van (work truck for the mustard business), floor is rusting out in the back, and the engine was replaced 2 times (second time was less than a year after the first, it was dealers fault) also parents have a 1995 merc. sable, tranny is shot, but driving 100+ miles a day for 7 or so years will do that i guess. we owned a couple of tempos back in the day as well.

my next truck will be a F-250 TD 6 speed manual, black on black :)

My Ranger has never stranded me. It has been in the shop more than any other car I have owned under warranty. The dealer fixed every problem including the timing chain TSB, drive shaft, and several other issues. The only problem they could never fix was the water leak in to the cab. They fixed the leak we thought at the 3rd tail light, but now I think it is leaking at the front windshield. I get compliments on it all the time.

I have owned Nissans in the past, 04 King Cab 4x4, 05 Pathfinder SE 4x4, 97 200SX SE-R and a 2000 Altima SE. The last 2 I had leased with NMAC. After a slow pay on the Altima they would not approve me for a new model when the lease was up. The slow pay was my fault, I own that. I have since rebuilt my credit and it has taken several years. After 6 years with NMAC to not approve me even after paying of the SE-R lease several months early, I have not owned another Nissan since.

I did finance my Ranger with my LOCAL bank who I have financed several cars with, who can still make a human decision.

I do like the Toyota trucks. I have always thought they are way over priced for what you get.

The wife drives 06 Honda CRV SE. I bought a 91 T-bird SC as a daily driver. My 2 cents is if you buy a truck ,make sure it is 4x4. I have never lost money on a 4x4 truck. I looked on autotrader the other day and found my same truck same mileage selling for what I paid for it several years ago.

Again im definalty proud. If you want to knock ford on this forum, then you should get out and go to the forum that pertains to your vehicle. Im not saying other brands are bad, some are actually very good but who here really cares. If you don't own a ranger anymore because you have switched to something else, then why stick around unless you are one of the people who actually have very intresting knowledge to share with us about the ranger. Why stick around just to talk about how good your new vehicle is? Go to the forums for THAT vehicle. I used to drive an S10 blazer, I don't linger around S10 Forum or Blazinlow anymore talking about how great my ranger is, because im sure they dont want to hear it and I respect that. Im proud of my Ford

Ha!

so, I've got a 02 b4000 (a little beter looking ranger? Idono) and wow ford is garbage,(cost cuting and lack of enginering) Ford is a lot less American than people think. The motor is german the trans is French haha along with the Mexican everything, toyota is much more American than ford, the best vehical i have ever had was my 96 tacoma 4x4 that truck was sooo bulit prof , it never let me down, one time I was mudin thru water and the distrabuter was full of mud and water but it still limped back home. And the mazda/ranger, well I resently got stuck 4wheeling ended up with a $400dollar tow bill and a $200 citation for getting stuck... i admit its my fualt for getting stuck not fords, but the 4x4s t bar front ends are pretty lame. Even with all that to me its not worth selling my truck which i like, to buy some toyota, and the sohc power is good..i raced a freinds 3000gt that has intake and muflers vs my stock at the time mazda and won! Pulled on him altheway to 80mph, still dosent mean fords kick butt, i think they are lame but i enjoy ranger fourms because i like moding my cars & trucks thats all.

I said they shouldent stay if they want to stick around to bash ford and talk about how much better they're new vehicle is, theres no need for that. If they want to stay and pass knowledge that pertains to upgrading the ranger, or just working on it in general that is fine. Learn how to read. I think you just didnt like my comment about the mazda halfassed ranger. Take some cheese with your wine...

who said I was talking to you....Im tired of you guys *****ing and complaining.....its not like you have to read what they say anyways....and yes I would take a tacoma over my mazda/ ford in a heartbeat......besides they have more power I just think toyota builds a superior product...and yes I dont really care for domestics until you get into the heavyduty fullsizes...

every truck has its quirks....EVERY ONE.....there is no perfect truck

bashing ford why cause they have used the same body of a truck for almost 2 decades now?? wow

I like my truck but I dont think its the best one out there...

nothing but Ford vehicles in my drive way! ive owned them all and you see 10x more OLD BEATEN UP RANGERS than tacoma's, my neighbors is an old Tyson's chicken work truck 94 model with 375,000 miles going strong. FORD FTW!
