Yep. I returned a few snapped ratchets, wrenches and sockets. I almost had to go violent in order to have them replaced with items stamped ' Made in the USA '. Most of craftsman tools are now made in soy-sauce land.

Ironically.. just when i was working on fabbign up some crap to fix my valance, I blew a crack in a chrome craftsmen socket trying to get a bolt out of our other car here.. was wrenchign on it trying to get a bolt free out of the engine and it suddenly gave way.. I thought I had got the bolt out.. and nope, wrong move, the socket actually had a clear split top to bottom and broke nice and good.. along with my ratchet ****ing up.. thats why I like using wrenches 99% of the time, so much tougher. brought it back and they gave me some flimsy feeling socket wrench to replace the old one.. I'll investigate and see if its got the stamp on it, never looked

I like my Ranger, it's my third one and the 08 seems up to the standards of the others. I think it's the best mini pickup out there and is not given the credit its due because of the dated technology. Ford should have had a diesel in this thing a long time ago.
As far as the foreign vehicles, I think we all owe them for forcing the US manufacturers to improve their quality. Argue what you will, they would simply have never done it if they hadn't been forced to. Lee Iccoca fessed up and admitted that we were turning out a lot of crap and pleaded that we give them another chance. They have all done wonders in trying to catch up. The problem is the target is always moving, they're not sitting still and waiting either. US manufacturers are still way to slow in implement improvements and respond to customer needs. But with the continued pressure from the foreign manufacturers, they'll learn this in time too. If they survive.

^^I am well aware of what IS made in Canada, I have been to St. Thomas, Oakville, and Windsor, many, many times. See my location (motor city) my company has built many of those assembly lines that build those cars. :)

I was just stating that a lot more are not built in Canada, thats all...

Being a current owner of a Mazda, A Chrysler and a Ford Ranger I tend to laugh at people who proclaim their Brand_X loyalty. I did that when I was 18.

Is ford going to somehow reward you for your loyalty? Mind you that Im not bashing Ford or you but brand loyalty is just silly these days. I buy what from who will give me the most car or truck for my hard earned paycheck.

Almost all American cars and trucks have foreign parts in them as well as some Foreign vehicles (especially Jap cars) have American parts in them. The fact is that the automotive industry parts bin is now universal like it or not so check your Ford or Chevy again because you may just find a Mazda, Toyota or Suzuki part under the hood LOL. And that is right out of the factory.

Aside from the parts coming from overseas you have the fact that some foreign models are made right here in the USA (Honda Civic) and other U.S. brands are made overseas (PT Cruiser in Mexico etc). Do you see where Im going with this? The lines are too blurred. Another example, I have a Mossberg 12guage shotgon that claims it is made in the U.S.A. but reading the owners manual indicates that it is "assembled" in Mexico. Manufactures sometimes play word games like this. Is it "made" in the USA or "assembled" in the USA. There is a difference, but only if you care.

In my lifetime so far I have own a Chevys, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Hyudai, Pontiac, Mazdas, Chrysler and now a Ford. And if it's one thing I have learned is that if you take care of your Brand-X car or truck it will take care of you no matter where it was made.

The only real exception to that rule would be a Yugo but then there is a reason they are not sold here in the U.S. anymore LOL.

I would like to think that if I buy American that all my money goes back into OUR economy but that is just not always the case. Don't blame me, blame the Corporations for outsourcing and da Gubmint for globalization.

Now if your really that proud then be prould of our Country. Enlist in the U.S. Army! LOL.

Sorry for the rant.

The problem here is that the Japs (especially Honda) tend to take a much larger chunk of their profits and sinks it back into R&D.

The other problem is that American manufacturers have to deal with the Unions. The Unions dig too much into the profit margin so countries that do not have Unions are at an advantage and have more money left over to improve their products over time.

Ah, but they get paid by the union, not the company, out of the union dues that they pay every month. Also, its not a full paycheck. I'm union, believe me, I know.

My ranger sucks, I hate it actually. Way too much electric crap, gets ****ty gas milage, and makes NO power. 4 trannies, 1 t-case and 1 rearend in 2 years.

I can't give the damn thing away.

I judge vehicles based on how they treat me for their intended purpose. All things being equal, I have had just as much luck with my imports (VW, Audi, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes, Volvo) as I have with my Ford. For a cheap little pickup that gets decent mileage, it works well. Is it better/more relaible than any other vehicle I have owned??..........some but not all.

Screw Tacoma's, here in Canada they cost 15k more than a Ranger (Top models), so lets put 15k in a Ranger in the aftermarket and see who comes out on top.

For the all around package, you can't beat the Ranger, anyone been noticing how many 07-08's are on the road, ITS CRAZY!! Ford is selling them like hot cakes!!

If you like Toyota fine, Mazda whatever, hype them up all you want, but dont bash the Ranger, ESPECIALLY IF YOU OWN ONE!! To whoever here drives a Ranger and cries about it and say they want a Tacoma, GET A LIFE LOSER!!!
