I found a ranger!

I called around our area yesterday, and found a car lot that had what i was looking for, and is about 15 miles away. I just got back from looking at it. Its a 2000 Ranger 5spd Regular cab stepside....Orange with tan interior. It has 138k miles on it, but the interior looks brand new.....it is CLEAN. The paint has a few little scratches, and a very small ding on the tailgate, but its not bad at all. We are going back over there tommorrow to look at it again, and test drive it. It looks like its been taken very good care of.

We just got back from test driving it. It cranked up, and ran great. It doesn't feel like it has 138k miles on it. The steering didn't have any play in it, and the manual trans shifted through the gears without any problems. I've never drove a manual trans. truck on the road so I have a question. Do you have slowly shift and let out on the clutch kinda slow (not all at once) to get it to shift smoothly? When ever i'd rev it up in a gear (say going from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd) then shift it, if you didn't let the rpms drop before shifting, it would have a little jerk to it.

He said he'd take $5500 plus tax........does that sound about right for this truck?

I got my 2000 single cab 5sp in 04 with 45k miles. I bought it from a dealer for 7k with tax. so about 6k with no tax. I think 5500 is high.

I haven't seen many nice rangers with a 2.5l 5spd for much cheaper than that.......specially not that color, and a stepside, with a very clean interior. The kbb value is about $5500-5700 for that year truck. And maybe you just got a very good deal..................

I bought my 98 in 02 with 16k miles for 6 with tax and tag included. It was a manual trans 2.5l stepside in the light denim blue which you really don't see that much either but I wouldn't call it rare. So I would have to say itz pretty high. Does it have a decent warrenty?

I dont think it does. I've looked through the trader magazine, internet, within our area (within 75 miles) there are not many nice trucks priced that cheap ($4500). Especially not with exactly what im looking for................this truck is.

If you're happy paying that price then do it. You can always find a good deal and you may be overpaying but if its going to make you happy then do it. It is your money after all.

Well I think we can get a better deal on it, we haven't negotiated yet, we just asked to see what they wanted for it.

i got my 99 3.0 ext with 72k and warrenty for 6k out the door...

ask about the timing chain/belt.... if its been replaced, try for 5k out the door, if not under 4300 out the door...

Just remember this when thinking about th price: It is what you want, it is in good condition, it is orange, and it is what you want. You may be able to find one a little cheaper, but it may not be in as good of condition as this one.
