To each his own is something you're going to hear alot on this site. If you want to lift it, a body lift is a great, and cheap ($250) to do it. Since your 2WD you are going to want to slap a bit bigger tires on there, too.

I have a slightly lifted 2wd that I've sunk a little money into. You can look through my cardomain page by clicking on my username and following the link "visit homepage" or something like that. There are some pictures that you can see a 2wd can take you off road, but you can also get stuck alot.
In my opinion, if you want to do a lot of 'wheelin, sell your truck and get a 4x4. You'll be much happier in the end if beaches, mud, and rocks are your thing.
