I have noticed a complete 'lack of interest' in my truck
Lets see. up until last sat, my truck hadnt been waxed since May.
my inspection is 3 months passed due. My CEL has been on for about 6 weeks now. Got the thermostate, no drive to put it in. I need a new battery since it wont start if its uber cold out. the interior hasnt been cleaned since we signed up with the kill squad (hospice) in May... I used to wash the truck 3x a week. I washed it yesterday, first time in 2 months. oh and im at 6500 miles since last oil change. and my tranny oil is like 13000 miles over...
It seems to me, that life has really caught up with me, and that I just have a total lack of interest in that truck out there. The last major thing I did to the truck was install the tailgate switch light... which doesnt work when its uber cold out... I have a burned out back up light on one of the extra reverse lights.... no ambition to replace the bulb... I have a seriously, in my opinion a super nice looking truck, yet the interior needs some serious TLC, and it needs just a general top to bottom inside and out cleaning... Hell I still have gobs of goo from my mudding experience caked around my fogs lights, and yet, its like, ***** it. Its a really wierd feeling to look at something I have spent thousands of dollars on, with weeks and weeks of work, a project that me and dad worked on together, and just not care. its a really wierd sensation. Last week end was the first time in 6 months that I have actually done anything to my truck. I used to take atleast 20 pics a week of my truck. I have over 10,000 pics on my puter of my truck. I have thousands of pics here: http://www.ihumpedurcat.com/ranger of my beloved ranger, yet, its like, i dunno, i just dont have that 'spark' anymore. I lost alot of that spark after the accident. the accident really hit me hard as far as caring about the truck. it me and dad really hard in alot of other ways as well but thats another topic.
which is why, I dont really post on the forums anymore, cause I dont really have an interest anymore...

Since my truck got beat up on Chinaman Gulch and I've run into all the financial stuff prior, I've really started to hate my Ranger and love my Bronco, partly because my Bronco is paid for.
In fact, I've been thinking of getting rid of the Ranger all together, just because I'm tired of dealing with it. Between the window getting busted out, body damage, and the differential, I'm just sick of it.

I hear ya about the lack of interest.
This year I got a company truck, so my Ranger sat at home all week and it seen some use maybe on Sundays. I washed the truck in April to get the salt off and the oil spray, then again in May or June. That was it. It hasn't seen wax in well over a year. Just the regular oil change.
I have yet to get it oil undercoated....better late then never I guess.
I guess that's what happens when life comes knocking. I have my own house and my job keeps me busy. Guess when you live at mom/dads place and a student you have more time for your truck.

WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD DUDE. It's a damn truck, not a beauty queen. Keep it reasonably clean, washed and repaired but don't get **** about it.
On the other hand if you want to devote your whole life to your truck then go for it.
My Ranger is a truck to me. I really like it and it's the best one I have ever owned but it's still a truck. I bought it last July and have not washed it but the rain has and it does look ok. I keep the inside clean and do all needed repairs.
It's natural to fawn over something new so don't worry about your attitude and maybe it is winter depression. Clean it up, repair it and tell it you love it but you have a life and can't spend all your time on it. Don't treat it like a high maintenance wife or girlfriend. The wife or girlfriend will get jealous of the trk. and cut you off.

I have lost interest in all vehicles, which I thought would never happen. Ever since I moved here (from MN to NYC) I have grown to hate vehicles. Back home I loved my truck, its my 3rd ranger, but here, its just an expensive hassle..
$200 a month on gas which is mostly just used sitting in traffic, and braking/stopping nonstop, $245 for the payment, $145 for insurance, and if I want to park anywhere when we go to the city? Oh thats about $75 a for 3 hours.
Nowhere to park here ever, horrible, HORRIBLE drivers who will just back into your car and drive off like bumpers are meant to impact eachother, and the fact the subway system can basicly take you anywhere you need to go in almost the same ammount of time, for $80 A MONTH unlimmited rides, just makes me want to get rid of my truck.
