I just bought my first welder

It's a Chicago Electric from Harbor Freights. Nothing special but it should get me some first timer practice. It's the MIG/Flux Core so I think it will be easy to learn on and I should be able to do a lot of projects with it. Specifically, it is the 110 AMP, 220 VOLT FLUX AND MIG WELDER.

What do you think?

Be careful... that sucker's likely to catch you on fire before it melts any metal. Good luck learning though!

HF is great for lots of cheap ****. I go there once a month or two for small things that I wont use often and not to worried about the quality. I would be curious about their welders to see how good they are.

something to learn on but you will find it a PITA. reason being your heat setting is either hi or low. and a low duty cycle to match id bet.

but like i said something to learn on, and welcome to the world of welding.

Some good threads on HF tools:

I go there like weekly when I'm home to pick up stuff thats on sale. The parking lot sales are the best though.

Thank you all for the advice. I figured since it was from HF it would probably not be the greatest but still something I can learn on and decide if welding if for me. I do have access to a nice welder at my Father in laws but wanted to get my own to learn and do small projects around the house on.

I hope this doesn't happen, but I have the big shop fire extinguisher just in case.

Thanks again all!
