So I sold my 01 ranger 2wd that was automatic and power everything and 4 door and bought me an 06 ranger stick w/o pwr windows or doors and just 2 door. At first it was fun driving stick but after 2 months it's just annoying. I drive mostly city and it's a pain shifting from light to light. I have my dixon lt 4x4 kit ordered but not sure if I want to but it on the truck. I'm still debating if I should sell it and get an auto 4x4. I thought I was gonna like it and a did for a while but not so much anymore. What do you guys think?
Get an automatic!!

Seriously. The save is going out. Every morning before I leave for work I have to check and the clutch fluid. I refuse to fix it again. It was replaced last February. I don't even wheel anymore. And no its not my driving because I have owned two manual cars before and I never had any transmission problems with them.

man you seriously either need to sell your truck or scrap the pile of **** because all we ever hear from you is how ****ty your truck is or how crappy your tranny is or that everyone elses rangers are garbage too. you obviously are doing something wrong or the truck is a major lemon.

One other note I think only some 4wd trucks suffer from this. I have never heard of 2wd Rangers having this problem.

4 out of the 5 vehicles I've owned are or were a stick. In the one vehicle I had that was an automatic I enjoyed it at first. Over time I began to miss shifting and craved a standard tranny again. I haven't looked back. I know one thing that in most cases manual trannys are tougher to kill in than a similar automatic. I'd much rather put in a clutch & PP than rebuild an auto.
Manuals are extremely reliable but can have issues if they're not driven correctly. At work we own a large fleet of Mack trucks and they're almost indestructible if driven correctly but if you don't know how to drive them they always need clutch work/adjustments. I drive them sometime and have always enjoy shifting them. Then in the last month we decided to try a Mack with an Allison Automatic, I now find myself liking it more than the manuals. I do partly think no matter what you get you'll find yourself craving the other.

I've paid for two with my own money and still dont get why you are complaining so much. If you are having the same problem over and over and over again do you think that maybe you or your mechanic arent getting to the root of the problem? Maybe there is something else in the setup that is out of tolerance or something?
It reminds me of dealing with guys at work that complain over and over again if they are having problems with our product. Its never their fault and its always a faulty product. Well, im not blaming you for whats going on with your truck ( I dont think its you causing it) but i do think that maybe the problem lies somewhere else in the system.
Instead of it being automatically a POS because it failed, try to find out WHY it failed.

And for the record I have heard way more problems with autos than Manuals. Manuals just suck when you have to replace the clutch.

Thats what I've been thinking, theres no way its just the slaves fault, theres something else in the system, I cant imagine what, there has to be something if it goes through them that fast. I bet it something simple too.

Well it would have been easier and cheaper this way so you could use the same tranny on a 3.0 and 4.0. Could have gotten a tranny out of a 4.0 cheaper but bellhousing was different than the 3.0
I've had 2 Rangers with manuals and never had any problems with them. Besides the driveshaft cracking one. Never had to replace the slave cylinders and only the clutch once in the first truck. Only replaced the clutch in this truck because the tranny was leaking fluid adter i bought it and did it as a precaution. I use mainly parts from Advance because I work there. No problems on this end.
Have any idea? Anyone? Again I'm not the only one with this problem. The slave is known to be crap. I'm just the only one that complains. Its my fault for not researching this vehicle before I bought it. Also to me its not worth trying to figure out the problem. You can't do anything with the truck anyway. Can't tow. Can't put people in it. I have had 2 other manual vehicles before and I never had a problem with the transmission. Each time that the clutch was done a different mechanic has worked on it. The only thing I haven't replaced is the clutch line. But I doubt that will help any. This last time I used stock replacement parts and the same crap happened sooner. Not even a year and it is failing again. I'm tired of dealing with it. It shouldn't happen. I won't just deal with it either. Truck breaks and I don't work. No work then I don't get paid.

I have a manual and I love it, never let me down.
They are much better then the automatics IMO.

Sorry, I can't help it. You ***** about your truck in almost EVERY thread in here. Here's a cookie though.
