Dynomax

On this long journey of searching for an exhaust dynomax has come up a lot. A friend of mine wants to put one on his vehicle and now I began looking at one. It's a super turbo 2.5 inlet and dual 2.25 outlets.

I heard n3elz's clip and it sounded good. What do you guys think of dynomax? I see that it has fiberglass inside. Will that corrode overtime or blow out so it sounds like a shotty glass pack?

Also, will it be much louder than stock. Or will it give off a rice burner or fart can noise. I know n3elz's didn't but he also has it dumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The part number for the muffler is 17786. Thanks guys!

It sounded the same not dumped, only less loud. No fart sound EVER from a Dynomax. The "roving fiberglass" they use just roves around the muffler, and doesn't seem to come out, lol. They way they retain it is different than in the old style "glass packs" you're thinking of.

As I think I mentioned, it's not much louder than stock, just much deeper.

I think it would sound even better with the dual outlets, but I've never heard one of those in anything but other brands.

Guess you're all full of help eh?

I priced out that muffler tonight at 45 bucks on clearance. Lifetime warranty and a buy it and if you aren't happy they'll refund you back. So I think I may just go with it then. Thanks for putting up with me. I'll tell you how it sounds with duals :)

Yup. I'v got the Super Turbo or Turbo Race or whatever..

It can get loud when you really lay on it, but besides that it just sounds good not obnoxious.

That's a good way to describe it. Yes, I guess at full rev it is louder than stock by quite a bit -- but my experience is that most folks who want a different sound like a louder muffler than the SuperTurbo types. I WANTED one that wouldn't **** off my neighbors -- but then I'm an old guy so what did you expect...

I have the Dynomax single in\out and it's not much louder than stock, especially at idle. At WOT it is, like John said, a little deeper but not obnoxious. I had flowmasters on my old truck and the interior resonance drove me crazy driving down the highway. It's all in what you want, the Dynomax is much better IMHO.
