Exhaust tip size

My exhaust tips on my 01 XLT got damaged to I decided to have them replaced.

Currently they are 2.50 angle cut outlets chrome 2.25 inlet

The problem is that the shop can not find the right size. Would moving up to a 3in outlet (stainless steel) make the truck noticeably louder or deeper sounding.

The truck right now is not very loud at all, which i like, I already have cops in town follow me thinking that it going to be loud when i pull away from a stoplight or something, but its not.

Also do you think that 3in would look better or too big (what do most have on a ranger)

thanks

3" is usually the norm. I had 4" before and to me they were overkill. Currently have 3.5" and have problems with them hitting the hitch.
