Stock Underbed Spare Tire Carrier (sizing)
As my sig says, I have 32x11.50R15 tires. I currently have the OEM stock tire. I desire a real spare that will fit under the bed.
I've read that a 31" tire fits under the bed. I've also read that a 32" tire w/ 50% tread fits under the bed. Using a spare like this I would need to deflate the opposite tire to level out the truck.
I'm thinking of getting a new 32" tire and using that as my spare. Since it wont fit in the spare tire spots, I figure I can just deflate it to the 31" tire size and shove it under the bed. The benefit to this would be that if I get a spare, I could drive to the nearest gas station and pump air into the tires and be at 100%. Or, on planned offroading adventures, I could bring a portable tire inflator with me.
What do you guys think of this?
Oh yeah, can my stock jack still extend enough to lift my truck off the tires?

your spare wheel is 16x7 anyway. that tire size should be enough anyway.
do you have a rear limited slip? if not a 1" tire size will not matter that much.

a 32" tire would be tight.....my stock 31x10.50x15 was pretty tight......and if you have or plan on adding a hitch, it will be worse.....my 31" barley fit with the hitch on it...

Thanks for the tip Larson. I'll keep an eye out.
I'll try to re-state my idea....
FACT: a 31" spare fits under the bed
FACT: I have 32" tires
FACT: I can purchase a portable tire inflator
QUESTION: Would it be a good idea to purchase a 32" spare tire, and deflate it an inch (to the 31" size). Thus allowing me to inflate it to the 32" tire size when I have access to air (from a gas station or a portable tire inflator).
