Really? I have a manual 2.5L and I do fine on hills. I can be cruising at 40 in 5th gear at like 1800 rpms and accelerate up the hill. I am actually surprised at the ability. If I start losing speed I just down shift to fourth.
Is your auto?
And what axle gearing do you have? I have 373s so that might help me. Maybe you have like 314s or something really high.
An 8.8 swap might make a big difference.

When I started driving my new (to me) Ranger home on Monday, I couldn't hold 50 mph in 4th gear in the western Iowa hills. I was beginning to think I had been screwed! It only had about 1/8 tank of gas, so I stopped at a BP and filled with 87 octane (I don't do ethanol if I can help it). I started out of town and there was another hill to climb. I stayed in 5th at 55 mph and waited for the speed to drop...it didn't! The crappy gas (probably ethanol) was the only problem. If you've been running ethanol, try a tank or two of 87 octane unleaded. You just might be passing the next Prius.
