im so confused about wheel adapters
1 Attachment(s)
ok i call up www.wheeladapters.com and tell them what im doing. i tell her my measurements and we go from there. she tells me that each adapter is gonna cost 90 shipped due to a lip on my wheel.
the next place i call is www.performancewheel.com i give them my measurements and tell them what im doing (20s) and tell them the wheel im putting on there. the guy is being a smart ass to me and i wanted to hang up on him. but if i can get my adapters cheaper then o well. basically he told me that i dont need to have a lip on my adapter. he said its hub centric or lug centric, for that wheel. and the adapter is made for the vehicle not the wheel. im so confused. i just want my wheels to fit right my measurements are 4 inch inside bore 3/8s inch deep lip 4 1/4 center hole on the outside of the lip. you can see the lip in picture kinda. this is the only pic that i got before my camera died. here is a pic of the back of the rim Attachment 206442 |
Where is the lip you are reffering to?
If you are using 60* acorn lugs and torque the wheel to 100 lb/ft while it is off the ground, you should not need a hub cebtric adaptor |

From what i can see, that lip does not stick out, it goes in right?
just get a set of standard adaptors, most aftermarket wheels are not hub centric ($$$ rims are) If you want hub-centric you must stay with the original bolt pattern. The worst that could happen running the wheels lug-centric is that you may get a slight 'shimmy' at highway speeds, just make sure you torque the adaptors and wheels to 100 lb/ft while the tire is in the air on jacks. You can have someone hold the brake while you torque. |
the lip goes in 3/8 of an inch and is 1/8 inch wide. how bad of a shimmy. my tires right now are cupped and its a hell of a shimmy. like jiggles my watch like crazy above 45 mphs

i just dont want to spend alot of money on something that isnt returnable and be out alot of money.
