Thanks for the reply. Just curious. Just talkin about how to increase, seemed like this might be a decent example of really tryin to increase the towing capacity. Actually Nissan has the only mid size or compact truck with a fully boxed frame, it is heavy, but with its Hp and TQ rating, I am sure it can tow well over its 6700 pound maximum. |

Heck If I was to pull around my ranger all the time I would want a 3/4 ton, by the time you add in wind resistance, braking, hills, wear and tear etc... it would be worth having a 3/4 ton. I'd put as little strain on the truck as possible. My next truck will definetly be a diesel. Weather its DRW or not is the question. I could settle for a 350 SRW though. That could tow my ranger and atv on a 5th wheel, or my toy hauler no problem!!! |
^^^^The word on the street is F150 diesel so, that will be my next. Unless they diesel the ranger, then that would be my first choice. I really don't need a super duty thats for sure...

ill add this little tangent about engines and towing...
at work we have a 550 dumptruck with a v10 in it... towing a skid steer on an open 20ft, double axle trailer it loses all its balls... shallow hills longer then 1/4 mile require 2nd gear... loaded with 10-11 yards of mulch and towing a barkblower it does better but still need 2nd gear for the bigger hills... skid steer is about 2.5 tons + attachments (buckets like 500 i think) so that gives you an idea of weight... |

Im just wondering if theres some upgrades you can do that will give you a better tow capacity so I don’t have to resort to the mpgs you get from a v8. im thinking like gears and a different trany and if that’s what id need what size gears and what trany?
