CEL/Cruise control recall
Ok heres the story, my wife took the ranger in for the cruise recall about a week and a half ago. The next day I drove it and the engine seemed to spark knock...it didnt run bad, just not like it did the day before. I thought maybe the gas was bad so I was going to run some mid grade through it the next time. We went on vacation for a week and I went to drive it yesterday and the CEL came on. My wife took it in this morning and the Ford people were going to charge $85 just to read the code. The tech swore it couldnt have anything to do with the cruise control recall. She left and took it over to AutoZone and they ran the code and said that both banks were running lean. Anyone have any ideas? Loose vacuum line maybe? The tech said all they did was snap something on near the battery....but when I looked at the paperwork, they did like a "free" 20 point inspection.

The Deactivator Switch recall itself could not have caused the lean condition. It is just a wiring subharness added in the master cylinder area.
I would check for a vac hose that may have been accidentally dislodged, especially the two (large and small) right under the master cylinder at the VMV (Vapor Management Valve).
