Which Muffler?Point the way.

Bla bla bla, I've searched.

Now, I am getting really tired of my loud exhaust really fast! I am looking for a muffler with the best performance and just a little bit of a mild rumble, performance is at the top of the list, but I don't want to sound like an import. I don't want to hear much of the exhaust when I am at highway speeds. I wqas goiing to go with a Flowmaster Super 40, but loud is annoying now.Point me where I need to go. Sound clips are very welcome.

Thanks,

Mike

I don't think a muffler alone is going to help or hurt the Ranger's power, so you might just shoot for good sounds.

You should check out the JBA Evol system. It's a cat back single system with a stock exit. It uses a Magnaflow muffler as far as I know and an exhaust clip can be found on there website. I'd recommend that or the Dynomax system which I have.

i've got the magnaflow dual out the rear cat back system. gives my 4.0 some extra "pep" and a nice subtle growl.

Your's is too loud???

Try JBA headers with a flow40 si/do out the side. Then we can talk about your exhaust being too loud

The borla does have a pretty mellow growl to it though.

They're like $20 more than a flow40 on ebay

I was thinking about going to a si/do borla to kinda quit things down a bit. It does get old on road trips. Then again I still have the stock stereo speakers in =]

Gibson, or magnaflow. Either way both very good mufflers. My truck with a 318 V8 with an original 40 is too quiet for me as well (stupid si/do setups). im thinking on getting dual super 44's put on.

I had the gibson single swept side kit on my 4.0 and it was pretty mellow sounding...was almost too mellow...and the performance was good. Better top end and better economy over stock. When i got the roll pan I wanted to rework the exhaust so i had duals out the back and make it sound meaner. I went with Borla. Its louder than the Gibson and the setup with the duals seemed too help the performance even more. I had a little more torque in the low end and equal performance in the top end when compared to the Gibson single swept side.

i have his old exhuast, and i like it i have a video that compares it to stock and with the muffler installed forward and backwards ( it sounds better backwards) anywho here it is..

http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/f...rison_0003.flv

while crusin on the freeway its bearly audiable and thats what i wanted. but with the muffler installed forward after 3.5k rpm or so the exhaust would get quiet and it just sounded like air, with it flippied around the exhaust is audiable thorughout. but still not anywhere close to the flowmasters ive heard

Well I decided. I just bought a Borla Pro XS SI/DO. I like the sound(alot quieter) and the price was right.
