Ha ha! I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully it's ready by the time you get down here, Carl.

"X a brazilian" ??? You once were from Brazil but not anymore?...

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

Found a motor: 2002 VIN code "V" (flex fuel) like mine -- in fact it's exactly like mine. 59000 miles and was running when removed very recently. $850 out the door but I have to drive two hours to get it but that's fine.

It'll be a total "drop in" -- no modifications. More than I wanted to spend but worth it for convenience.

Thanks guys. Time and weather cooperating could result in the truck being back up in 2 weeks or so possibly. When I have the engine out I'll finally weld in my permanent cross member, lol.

Always something left to do...

Yikes John,

Damn, man! Sorry to hear about that H2O Lock problem. Well good luck with that new engine drop in. Guess you could say that old engine is all washed up...

Keep us posted! (pun intended!)

Cool and thanks. I've found the exact engine and I'm just going to roll with it. Not sure who you meant to call though, Kevin -- I can't see anything in your post?

damn sorry john, it was early here you go, he usually has the same engines for around $400 with low miles.

chances are everything is ruined, bent valves and connecting rods.

it would be smart if he took parts off of it, im sure he will.

I'll rebuild it if it's not too broken, strip it if it is.

Kevin, I called that guy. He has an 04 4.0 the whole drivetrain, but there are changes from 01-03 to 04 that might make that a problem. I'll have to look.

There's another potential problem in that the steering box BARELY clears the power steering pump for the 3.0 -- I think a 4.0 swap might require some time consuming work to make it work -- otherwise I'd see what he wants for the whole 4.0 drivetrain.

He's going to see what he has and I'll call him tomorrow.

Oh like your not known for spending hours upon hours upon hours making stuff work for your truck?! Come on... We KNOW you better than that... Just think of the power! the MORE fun you COULD have with a 4.0 over a pansy 3.0! and Now you have 4wd to put all the juicy power to good use.

You know, and we KNOW you WANT it and NEED it... so stop making excuses and get the bigger engine already!

Trust me, youll be thanking me after u get done cursing me out for an entire week end!

Get thee behind me, Satan!

I just don't want another big project now. Otherwise the 4.0 swap would be something I'd do.

thats good john, like i said if for any reason you need something looked at or anything let me know and i will go over there. as for the 3.0 vs 4.0, i will never go back, both newer rangers i had were 3.0 and i hated them, now i have an old 4.0 with 200,000 miles on it i will never wish the underpowered 3.0 on anyone.

As john tosses and turns trying to sleep at night, he just can't seem to find the source of the whispering 4-"oh" that haunts him.....nevermore!

As Nike would say, Just Do It! Then stay out of that water!

its a learning experience john, i hydroloced my 02 4x4 with the 3.0 and had to have it replaced, and now i have a snorkel ran to my windshield wiper cowl, and next week i am re-doing it to the roof just to be sure, thats something you only want to do once. i bent valves in 2 cylinders and 2 connecting rods, it still ran tho, about 40 mph max because of the vibration and knocking lol.
