Cruise Control Question

Cruise Control Question
I have a question regarding my cruise control. I was wondering if the cruise control module is a universal swap for Rangers meaning from one ranger to another. I have an 01 and have tested the pods. When I run the test, the light blinks when each button is pused and then the brake adjusts at the end so I'm sure its not the pods. My only other idea is the module. Just wondering if I could get one from a junk yard or somewhere else or if its specific to my year or my truck. Thanks.

I think if you stay with Ranger V6 modules from a close year, that would be the safer thing to do. The cables are different for different engine apps but the cable can be transfered from module to module. My stock Ranger servo/module workes fine with the 302 - I only had to swap to the Explorer cable to get the correct length.
Having said all that, I would still question if the module is actually the problem. The speed control can be disallowed by the brake switch, the clutch switch or the pressure deactivation switch on the master cylinder.

First, I would look to see if the Deactivation Switch has been unplugged from the front of the brake master cylinder. Some Ford dealers were doing that while waiting for the parts for the DS recall. If the switch is plugged in but the truck hasn't had the recall performed, you should get it done right away. Not only would it take away the DS fire danger but there's also a chance that the cruise might get fixed in the process.
If that isn't it, I would test the brake pedal switch and the clutch switch (if equipped) to see if they are working.
