Strange HVAC noise

There seems to be some sort of buzzing noise coming from behind the glove compartment while my HVAC is blowing. It stops when I stop the blower, and its loudness seems to come and go, but also at times seems to increase with increased blower speed. There are other times though, where it is loud, and then the next time I get in the truck it's barely audible. I can't tell for sure, but it seems to get much quieter when I run the air conditioning. It's been going on for about a week, since I've been using the heat instead of air conditioning in my truck.

My guess is that the blower fan is going bad? I'm not terribly familiar with the HVAC systems, but I was hoping any of y'all might have had a similar issue and knew where I could start looking/troubleshooting?

Mine does that sometimes.

Go to defrost and put it on number two (for blowing more) and it reverses that fan/vent thing and gets it unclogged.

It jsut gets dust/dirt in it and makes a wierd sound...mine does it quite frequently

It's easy to get pine needles, leaves or small twigs in the blower fan. You can clear them out by removing the blower motor on the PS firewall.

Yes. Passenger side on the black plenum ahead of the firewall. The blower motor comes off easily (3 or 4 screws, an electrical plug and a hose) but you will have to move the cruise control servo first (1 bolt and one plug). You may also need to pull the bolts for the windshield washer reservoir to get enough clearance to pull the motor/impeller out.

Look inside the plenum for a buildup of debris, especially in the fins of the A/C evaporator. Even a small amount can create a bad odor in the interior if it gets damp and mildews later. If you find a buildup in the evaporator fins, gently remove it and clean with Lysol.
