Legal to ride with no bed?
The bed of my truck is smashed in and i'm painting it as we speak.
If I made mounts for my tails and a proper gas neck, is it legal in the state of New Jersey? I see people on here do it, but never have it off to drive around. |
prob still need a bumper but i dont see why youd need a bed. no solid answer from me though

i know in canada you need wheel wells, you cannot have things, like rocks, flying off of your tires into the air
|
You could probably get away with it for a few days and if you get stopped tell them that it's getting repaired and it'll be back on in a couple of days. I doubt they'd give you a ticket for that.

yea, as long as there is a bumper, wheel wells and turn signals/brake lights, you should be good.
|
I think wheel wells are key....
But if it is dry and the roads are clean you might get away with it for a few days. |
Ok, I planned on running without a bed forever, maybe rigging up a flatbed for it.
Guess i'll just paint it as is, or make up some wheel wells out of sheet metal. that's another day tho. |
In Indiana you have to have a wheel well of some sort and a bumper.
But you are also not suppose to raise the bumper more then 3 inches too |
As long ad the lights are mounted where you can see them and your bumper is intact, you are pretty much okay to go. I'm pretty sure most places would require mud flaps or a covered wheel well to stop rooster tail road spray.
