The "Lets hurt the Ranger" thread

my greatest WTF moment was over the summer... i hauled junk(scrap metal) for a "living" so i thought of an axle out of a log truck that was against the hill side in my back yard(in a ditch 2 feet deep) as a good opportunity to make a few bucks... so i hooked a chain to it and started pulling. the axle starts coming out, end to end. "good", i thought, and pulled a little harder to get it out of the ditch. BAD MOVE. the axle, as it came out of the ditch, came around and started rolling at my truck(downhill)... D'OH! with a 18 foot chain and a crowded back yard, there was nowhere to go. the(it turned out to weigh a little north of 1000 pounds) massive differential of the axle smashed into my bedside at the bottom(the bottom body line on my 88), JUST in front of the rear bumper, and the tire came to rest on the wheel arch(no damage there fortunately). between me and my friend,, we couldn't push the axle uphill off the truck, so i had to drive off it... as i drove, the tire rubbed a black streak down the bedside, and the carnage ensued when the massive tire got to the leading edge of my tail light. it just peeled my tail light out of the housing without completely breaking it, but bending the housing, and consequently the bedside in the process. my friend was flipping out about the damage worse than i was(i was actually calm), but i traded my broken tails for an unbroken set off a neighbor's ranger, and the family mechanic and i spent 20 minutes straightening the tail housing with a hammer, and we pried out the massive dent with a crowbar... a little lumpy, but not bad... my friend calls later (left immediately after the incident) to ask what the insurance company said about it and i said to him "it's already fixed"... he was shocked...

This guy has been going around for the past 2 mOnths breaking in cars from Philly to quakertown. The cups know his van but "just can't catch him". They said so far between broken locks, windows, and stolen items he has racked up a $30,000 bill.
I really wish I cought the guy busting my window. I would have beat him with a mag light and shoved that object he used to bust my window right up his a$$. I hate D-bags...

Dude I'm sorry, that really sucks. On your birthday and everything. Those are the moments where you wish you could turn back time, just so you could be there. Then again, depending on what weapons you had at your disposal, its probably a good thing you weren't.... I hate to admit it, but I purposely don't put nice things on or in my truck, just so I don't tempt thieves. What did they make off with ??

The day I picked up my Brand new Ranger I got some left over crap(Parts for my F350s 7.3L IDI engine) out of the bed of the truck I traded in.One of the bolt proceeded to fall out and bounce down the outside of the bed putting the first scratch on the truck....with a total of 200 feet seat time since I owned it.....My neighbor backed across the yard of the guy next to her,Over the curb, across he street and dead into the drivers side fender of my truck crushing it and the door in(Pics will follow!).1300Lbs of 6V92TA engine in the bed from Lexington,Ky to Hickory,NC(Thought the mountians) to Gadsden,Ala(down I85 though Hotlanta!)...Also pictures to follow...Oh,all this was on the same truck.2006 STX standard cab with a 3.slow and 5 speed.

Here you go...
Amazingly it was all cosmetic damage. The truck has been fine mechanically for well over a year since this happened, didn't even need an alignment.
I have partially repaired it, but still drive it every day so I don't know if it will ever look good again. It was a nice truck about two years ago...it's a reliable beater now.

Yea. Lucky she had insurance. What was messed up is she was to put that red SUV in the shop to have the bumper fixed after she backed into someone else a few weeks before. Think it was right at 2000 bucks to have my truck fixed. All better on that side. Then someone tagged my passenger fender right on the lip. Paint transfer is the same color as that car in her driveway. One day I will have it and the passenger door fixed(door has sent from a rock that got thrown by a kid on the side of the road. Lucky he had a limp arm and missed his real target. My window)!
