And Im sorry if this is the right place for this I couldnt think of another better place...

depends where its leaking tbh.
leaking manifolds tend to make a puffing noise, other wise listen for extra exhaust noise. if you find a spot on your exhaust thats louder then the tail pipe its probably leaking near there. you can usually see a exhaust leak as well, look for black soot almost like ground charcoal.

Yea some Ford dealerships suck. A 1yr and half ago I had my truck at the dealership (here in NY) looking at my tranny and t-case. Turns out I needed a new t-case. They never told me I couldn't drive it. So I'm on the parkway heading home to NJ and bam, I feel this big jolt. Welp, theres goes the t-case. I get it towed back to the dealership. They put the new one in. A week later I'm driving home to NJ and bam, see ya later tranny. I finally brought it to the dealership I bought it from (pretty reliable, we've bought there before and my father being a cop and all they don't **** around w/us). Well they tried blaming me for the tranny. A week later and calls to Detroit, I had a new tranny, t-case and rear driveshaft all for $200.

But yea, the point of the story is that not all dealerships are the same. Just ask around, you'll find a good one.

One way I have always heard to check for exhaust leaks is to take a wet rag and cover the exhaust pipe while the engine is running. If there are no leaks the truck will shut off, and if there are leaks the truck will continue running.

Don't mistake the sound for injector noise.

Injector noise? Recently i had my feul injectors cleand and the throttle body cleaned as well as the AC air box cleaned out... then I went on a trip to Rome GA and ever since I got back the sounds have been lingering... first a belt sqweak so i replaced it and a pulley then the grinding noise came... Im about fed up.

I have been taking it to the dealer where it was purchased and generally they do a good job bhut this time its like they just pop the hood scratch their heads and say ... "alright we fixed it" slame the hood down and give it back.

I think they messed something up that they dont want to admit...

Injectors make noise normally as they work. They sound like a pen clicking in and out.

Same here. I hate it because it makes the truck sound like a beater car.

Check to see if all the exhaust manifold bolts are there. The back passenger side one is missing on mine (broken stud) and it makes a funky noise.

serious??? maybe this test would work for the intake and major vacuum leaks but not for exhaust. a wet rag is no worse than a gradually clogging cat. if that dont stop it the rag wont

::edit:: wrong quote, my bad
